11.19.2013 | By |

When I heard that Jennifer Lopez will pay homage to the iconic Celia Cruz at the upcoming American Music Awards, it got me thinking: because of JLo’s Latin tribute at this all-American event, many more Latinos are bound to tune in to the awards show, so then should American audiences turn around and tune into this year’s Latin Grammys? 10 Questions With VH1’s Carrie Keagan

09.28.2013 | By |

This coming Monday at 10AM, one of the coolest shows on daytime television is returning. It’s not on CBS, NBC or ABC. It’s on cable TV and it’s on VH1. The show is called Big Morning Buzz Live with Carrie Keagan. How do I know this? I have been on the show since its inception back in 2010 when it used to be a one week show promoting the Critics Choice Movie Awards, and its very creative producers, as well as its beautiful lead host, have infused daytime TV with the type of programming one usually watches late at night. It’s the best counter-programming to everything else at that time and the results are some of the more captivating TV you’ll see in daytime. I mean, even my mom who is 66, can’t stop watching it. It’s contagious, and dare I say – addictive TV. Read More

Will Lifetime Develop More Latino Programming Because Of The Success Of ‘Devious Maids’?

09.23.2013 | By |

Looks like Lifetime’s new Latina themed show Devious Maids is a bonafide hit and a bonafide hit with Hispanics too as 19% of them in total viewers nearly doubles that of Lifetime’s primetime average. In other words, 9.5% of Hispanics watch other Lifetime programming vs. 19% of them watching Devious Maids. You can attribute the success of the show to specific themes: Latina protagonists, Latino themed situations, guilty pleasure escapism and a sexy Latin vibe to the show has really become a point of engagement TV for Hispanics. Who knows how many others are watching on an iPad or On Demand added to the ratings success. Read More

Breaking Bad: Was The ‘To Hajiilee’ Episode The Greatest Ever?

09.10.2013 | By |

My good friend Jim Shearer, host of VH-1’s Top 20 Countdown, emailed me last week and asked if I would be a part of his weekly Breaking Bad podcast called “Yinz Luv” to discuss this past weekend’s episode. I said of course, but none of us were ever thinking that we’d be discussing what I believe to be THE BEST episode in Breaking Bad history. Read More
