I did a Spanish version podcast. Hice un podcast completamente en español. It’s so cool to be bilingual. If you’re not, learn a new language and give it a try, it feels exhilarating. The benefits of expanding your message, conveying more, listening to more, more, more of everything are such a head rush. I wish I knew many more. This is one of the reasons I did this podcast en español… … just to see if I could and to see if I can truly disappear into my Latin culture. Can I fool people in thinking that I don’t speak English or that I have an accent when speaking English? But Mom and Dad would also get a kick from hearing it in their native tongue, plus, having it coincide around Hispanic Heritage Month helps it all come together. Thinking about it more closely, many of the people who follow me on social media are mostly Hispanic, just not sure whether they’re bilingual or straight-up Spanish speaking, but I’m sure they’ll appreciate listening to it in their main or secondary language.
There’s a new magazine targeting US Latinos called HOLA! USA, the same famous magazine from Spain is now here. I spoke to its head chief, Cristy Marrero, about what can the magazine bring to the marketplace that isn’t already here, publishing in Spanish and English, and how she sees the state of the Spanish-language print industry. Marrero sounds very forward-thinking… a quality that our Latino market desperately needs to embrace.
And can you believe I almost forgot about New York Fashion Week? I had not heard or read a thing about it anywhere. But luckily for me, my friend Kika Rocha, arguably the highest profile Latina fashion mind, set me straight on the event, its importance, its exclusiveness and the Latino designers we must keep an eye on. Hope you enjoy this special Spanish edition. If you like it, let me know in the comments below or tweet at me. The social media buttons are on the upper-right hand corner.
