Lady Gaga recently took her eccentricity to the next level and got butt naked in the name of art, later announcing it to her fans via twitter.
According to The Los Angeles Times, Lady Gaga did the promo video in order to seek financial support for the renovation of the Marina Abramović Institute in Hudson, N.Y. The short is part of Abramović’s Kickstarter campaign. The goal for the campaign is to raise $20 million to build a living museum and workspace dedicated to the presentation and preservation of long durational work, which according to the Kickstarter site, is doing one action for more than six consecutive hours.
Abramović is a celebrated performance artist who put Gaga through training for more than 20 hours. She is a performance artist who takes everyday actions like standing, lying down, sitting, thinking, etc. and implements long durational work in this way pushing the body to its extreme. .
In the video Mother Monster tests the limits of her body and mind by putting herself through arduous challenges for hours at the time.
A note that accompanied the clip stated that during “a three-day retreat in upstate New York, Marina instructed Lady Gaga in the Abramović Method – a series of exercises designed to heighten participants’ awareness of their physical and mental experience in the present moment.”
But hold on, since when does testing your limits require you to take all of your clothes off? Why, when you are Lady Gaga of course.
“She was in the fields and then the forest and by her pure intuition she had to find her way back home … During this exercise, completely of her own initiative, she took off her clothes,” Abramović told MTV News. “She just wanted to be in nature and to feel the elements.”
Or the 27-year-old singer totally knows that that sex sells and a naked Lady Gaga would help to raise more money than a clothed one. Regardless, she looked amazing baring it all and her little monsters have surely responded to her call.
Since its July 26 debut, the campaign has managed to raise more than $260,000 and has a $600,000 goal for Aug. 25. If you would like to know more about it please visit: kck.st/15kYWJe.
