This fall, Ricky Martin will inspire the youth to chase their dreams with the release of his first children’s book, “Santiago the Dreamer in Land Among the Stars.”
Celebra, a division of Penguin Group (USA), announced today the release of the picture book – written by Martin and illustrated by Patricia Castelao – which will be published in English and Spanish hardcover editions simultaneously on Thursday, Nov. 14. The title for the Spanish edition will be “Santiago El Soñador Entre Las Estrellas.”
The book, based on Martin’s love for the stage as a child, tells the story of a young Santiago whose biggest dream is to perform, but after not getting the lead role in his school play, he begins to doubt himself. Thanks to his father’s unconditional love, support and wisdom Santiago once again finds his confidence and with passion and dedication achieves feats beyond his wildest imagination.
“I hope this book inspires young readers to believe that dreams woven from their imaginations can become reality,” Martin said in a press release. “My greatest wish is that ‘Santiago The Dreamer’ will occupy a special place in the hearts of children and their parents, with everyone enjoying this uplifting story that shows the fulfillment of dreams begins with self-confidence.”
Today, Martin tweeted the news out along with the cover of the book and so far his fans can’t get enough.
If there is a person that should write a book to motivate children to be what they want to be and parents to support them every step of the way its Ricky. The chart-topping GRAMMY winner and Broadway performer started his singing career at the age of 12 with the successful Puerto Rican boy band Menudo, since then he has been involved with UNICEF. That work carried on throughout his adult career and even inspired him to create the Ricky Martin Foundation in 2002 which aims to fight against the sexual exploitation and trafficking of children worldwide. Besides being an advocate for kids, the singing sensation also became a devoted father in 2008 with the birth of twin boys, Matteo and Valentino.
Let us know what you think of the Ricky Martin’s new project and if you will be buying it when it comes out on Nov. 14.
