“Power” is a new series by Executive Producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and show creator Courtney Kemp Agboh premiering on Starz June 7. The show stars Omari Hardwick as James “Ghost” St. Patrick and co-stars Joseph Sikora as Tommy Egan. I had a chance to sit down with the two actors and Kemp, who spoke to me about the creation of the show, what it offers and 50 Cent’s involvement.

October could very well be the single best month to watch movies of 2013. When you do a quick overview of the films being released this month, five of them are the frontrunners to win Best Picture at the Oscars 2014. Many of these movies possess all star casts, top flight directors and innovative and fresh stories. They are also coming fresh off of great reviews at Venice, Telluride, Toronto and New York Film Festivals. Not to be ignored are the commercial fare which includes Arnold and Sly together in a full feature film as opposed to cameos and one of the greatest assembled cast of Hispanics in film history in ‘Machete Kills‘ and ‘The Counselor‘. Do yourself a service, if you haven’t been to the movies all year, this is the one month you should step out and watch one.

Los Angeles, CA – October 4, 2011 – It was announced today that Emmett / Furla Films and Cheetah Vision Films are partnering to produce the action thriller “The Pursuit,” which will star Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. The announcement was made today by Randall Emmett, who co-runs Cheetah Vision with Jackson and is partnered with George Furla in Emmett / Furla Films.
Director Jessy Terrero (“Soul Plane” “Gun”) has signed a three picture directing deal with the producers, which will begin with him directing “The Pursuit.”
Principle photography is slated to begin February 15th 2012 in Louisiana. The film will be distributed by Lionsgate through Cheetah Vision’s existing 10 picture output deal with the leading independent studio.
In “The Pursuit” a cop and criminal inadvertently team up to track down an escaped bank robber as each has his own personal vendetta against the man. Meanwhile, a determined US Marshall hunts the men to prevent them from killing the convict and instead ensure that he is brought to justice the proper way.
The screenplay is written by Matt Johnson (“Into the Blue,” “Torque,” the upcoming “Afterburn”). Producers are Randall Emmett, George Furla and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Additional casting announcements will be made in the coming weeks.
With nine films in production this year alone, Emmett / Furla Films, the Los Angeles based film production and financing company, has quickly emerged as one of the industry’s most prolific production companies with the capacity to develop, package, finance and produce a broad array of films for wide theatrical release.
Emmett / Furla is currently in pre-production on “Broken City” starring Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe and “Frozen Ground” starring John Cusak, Nicolas Cage and Vanessa Hudgens. Both films will begin shooting this fall. Emmett / Furla Films recently announced a new $250 million film fund with Envision Entertainment to finance a new slate of high-end, star-driven commercial feature films.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is starring with Chris Klein, Adam Rodriguez and Richard T. Jones in “Caught in the Crossfire,” a police corruption drama. Newcomer Brian Miller wrote the script and is directing.
Lensing is just getting underway in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Jackson’s Cheetah Vision Films partner Randall Emmett is producing with R.D. Miller, who raised the equity to finance the film through his company Miller and Miller Films. Jackson is executive producer with Chris Lighty and Tim Roth.
The drama concerns two homicide detectives who find themselves caught in the crossfire of a gang-related homicide and a group of dirty cops. Jackson plays a gang-banger who becomes a reluctant informant.
Miller went to film school in Grand Rapids and is making his directing debut on “Crossfire.”
Jackson and Emmett launched Cheetah Vision at Sundance. Aside from “Crossfire,” they are producing “Jekyll and Hyde,” the Abel Ferrara-directed retelling of the classic story that will star Jackson and Forest Whitaker. They are also planning another untitled drama they will self-finance as a star vehicle for Jackson, with Benny Boom (“Next Day Air”) directing. Production will begin in October.
