5 Actors Who Could Reboot ‘Rocky’

10.27.2016 | By |

Creed was one of the surprise hits of 2015, and successfully revitalized the Rocky franchise in an unexpected way. While Sylvester Stallone stole the show as an aging Rocky training a protégé, it was Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Johnson character that positioned himself to continue the series. That means that in some sense Rocky will continue, though it will do so through a new character. Coming Soon, which tends to have up-to-date information on release dates in addition to its regular film news, has said that there’s a tentative November 2017 release date for Creed 2 (which may or may not feature Stallone in a major role). New Trailer: ‘Out Of The Furnace’ starring Christian Bale

10.5.2013 | By |

Batman, er, Christian Bale, is starring in his first film since The Dark Knight Rises and it looks promising. ‘Out of the Furnace,’ the drama/thriller about the love between two blue-collar brothers, stars Bale along with Casey Affleck. The release date will be December 6, 2013 and is directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Get Low), produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and Ridley Scott.

Also, the cast is rounded out by Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe, Dominican actress Zoë Saldana and Sam Shepard.

Synopsis: Here comes a gripping and gritty drama about family, fate, circumstance, and justice. Russell Baze (Christian Bale) has a rough life: he works a dead-end blue collar job at the local steel mill by day, and cares for his terminally ill father by night.  When Russell’s brother Rodney (Casey Affleck) returns home from serving time in Iraq, he gets lured into one of the most ruthless crime rings in the Northeast and mysteriously disappears. The police fail to crack the case, so – with nothing left to lose – Russell takes matters into his own hands, putting his life on the line to seek justice for his brother.

Batman goes to Mexico

08.6.2012 | By |

Batman goes to Mexico

After finishing the promo tour for “The Dark Knight Rises”, Christian Bale is headed to Mexico to make a movie. He’s teaming up with “In the Bedroom” writer/director Todd Field for an adaptation of Boston Teran’s novel The Creed of Violence. “Set against a backdrop of intrigue and corruption,” the story takes place in Mexico in 1910 and centers on a criminal named Rawbone.

The synopsis goes as follows:

Mexico, 1910. The landscape pulses with the force of the upcoming revolution, an atmosphere rich in opportunity for a criminal such as Rawbone. His fortune arrives across the haze of the Sierra Blanca in the form of a truck loaded with weapons.

But Rawbone’s plan spins against him, and he soon finds himself at the Mexican-American border and in the hands of the Bureau of Investigation. He is offered a chance for immunity, but only if he agrees to proceed with his scheme to deliver the truck and its goods to the Mexican oil fields while under the command of Agent John Lourdes. Rawbone sees no other option and agrees to the deal—but he fails to recognize the true identity of Agent Lourdes, a man from deep within his past.

Set against a backdrop of intrigue and corruption, The Creed of Violence is a saga about the scars of abandonment, the greed of war, and America’s history of foreign intervention for the sake of oil.

The producers have offered Bale $5 million for the movie, but Bale’s asking for $10 million and he deserves it, but this means it’s far from a done deal.

The plan is to start production early next year in the American southwest and parts of Mexico. Universal Pictures will distribute.

Zoe Saldana could work alongside Batman

03.7.2012 | By |

Zoe Saldana could work alongside Batman

Dominican actress Zoe Saldaña, known worldwide for her starring role as Neytiri in Avatar, is in negotiations to join Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) in ‘Out of the Furnace . Little is known about the role other than that she will act as the ex-wife of Bale in the film. There is also speculation that her screen time will be plentiful.

The argument will focus on an ex-convict (Bale) trying to integrate back into society in a small town in Indiana, but is haunted by a figure from his past.

In an interesting note, the project, whose original name was Low Dweller, Rupert Sanders was initially attached to direct it, but Sanders retired and Scott Cooper was hired. Also Channing Tatum and Garrett Hedlund were considered to play the brother of Christian Bale. From what we understand, Casey Affleck is the winner of that competition.

Saldaña will join two other Hispanics at heart, Robert Duvall, who is about to confirm his role as Bale’s uncle while Viggo Mortensen could end up being the villain.

The Dominican actress has 4 upcoming films: Avatar 2, Blood Ties, Star Trek 2 and The Words.

The distribution company for Out of the Furnace is Relativity Media with Appian Way as the producer. Leonardo DiCaprio and Ridley Scott will serve as producers of the film. Still no release date.

Viggo Mortensen and Christian Bale together in…

Viggo Mortensen and Christian Bale together in...

Christian Bale is seeking out Spanish speaking Viggo Mortensen to interpret the villain of his new movie ‘Out of The Furnace’ with Casey Affleck, Garrett Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch and Channing Tatum in the mix to interpret Bale’s brother.

Mortensen, was brought up in Argentina and Venezuela, currently he’s finished 2 movies: ‘On the Road’ from the Brazilian director Walter Salles and written by Puerto Rican Jose Rivera and ‘Everyone Has a Plan’. Both are to be released very soon.

Bale, who seems to be moving away from successful movies such as ‘The Dark Night Rises’, is excited to start shooting. Filming will begin before the summer and before Bale starts ‘King of Cups’ from Terrence Malick.

The thriller, previously titled ‘The Low Dweller’, is a vengeance movie from the 70’s about an ex-convict who swears to get revenge on those that killed his brother.

The movie is set in Indiana in 1968 and Bale will interpret the ex-convict ‘Slim’, with legendary Robert Duvall in talks of having a supporting role. The screenplay has been compared to having a similar tone as ‘No Country for Old Men’.

‘Out of The Furnace’ was almost made in 2008 when Leonardo DiCaprio was supposed to star with Ridley Scott directing, but it was never carried out because of the screenwriters’ strike.
