Why My ‘Dora and The Lost City of Gold’ Tweet Went Viral

03.26.2019 | By |

My ‘Dora and The Lost City of Gold’ tweet went viral last night. If you were watching the Kids’ Choice Awards this past weekend, you saw 17-year-old Isabela Moner razzle the stage as she watched the premiere of the first trailer from her new film Dora and The Lost City of Gold from Paramount Pictures. It thrilled so many kids to see a character many had been invested in since it debuted on the Nickelodeon channel 19 years ago, finally get a live-action adaptation from a major film studio it deserved. 04.29.2018 | By |

Comedian Eugenio Derbez stops by the show to discuss his new movie “Overboard,” but we really talk about his struggles of becoming a star in an industry that has not fully embraced his culture, his accent, or his stories. We unspool why he’s making English-language movies now after a successful career in Spanish, how he overcame the sellout stigma from Mexican peers and why he believes Hollywood is afraid of creating Latino movie stars. Eugenio Derbez, Anna Faris and Eva Longoria Bring The Laughs In Overboard Remake Trailer

12.21.2017 | By |

Eugenio Derbez is at again. His new film which he is producing and starring in with co-stars Anna Faris and Eva Longoria is a remake of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s “Overboard” from 1987. The movie wasn’t that good, but it did have some occasional laughs along with some lovable performances from Hawn and her beau. Can this quasi-Latino ensemble create something better? Read More

This Week In Movies: The Circle, How To Be A Latin Lover, Buster’s Mal Heart

04.24.2017 | By |

How To Be A Latin Lover is how we begin the week’s film releases. For the love of a god, any god, I hope this comedy doesn’t regress Latino culture for 30 years. To be frank, I can’t bring myself to see it. You guys let me know how it is. In other releases, Tom Hanks and Emma Watson engage us in a black mirror story about technology and social media and humanity in The Circle and Rami Malek leaves his Mr. Robot persona to give us Buster’s Mal Heart, a quirky thriller that is sure to make you see Malek with different eyes. Enjoy the trailers and listen to our podcast for our in-depth reviews of this week’s releases and more! Read More

‘Lengua, Cámara y Acción’: Why Eugenio Derbez’s ‘Instructions Not Included’ Succeeded At The Box Office

09.3.2013 | By |

Hollywood woke up early this week to the story that Eugenio Derbez’s dramedy ‘Instructions Not Included‘ cracked the top 5 movies at the box office this Labor Day weekend. It opened on just 347 screens, and earned $21,614 per theater, more than any other film this weekend! In my weekly syndicated radio segment on the Luis Jimenez Show, “Lengua, Cámara y Acción,” on X96.3FM IN NY, I broke down WHY the movie did so surprisingly well. I also tackled the CBS/Time Warner resolution and discuss the “Fifty Shades of Grey” casting choices! Listen to the radio segment now!

“Lengua, Cámara y Acción” is a radio segment that is a free flowing conversation on Hollywood and the entertainment industry with a dash of wit, humor and information with Jack Rico and radio star, Luis Jimenez. This way, you can keep abreast of what’s happening in Hollywood with a smile. “Lengua, Cámara y Acción” is broadcast every Tuesday at 9:50 AM on X96.3FM.
