Why My ‘Dora and The Lost City of Gold’ Tweet Went Viral

03.26.2019 | By |

My ‘Dora and The Lost City of Gold’ tweet went viral last night. If you were watching the Kids’ Choice Awards this past weekend, you saw 17-year-old Isabela Moner razzle the stage as she watched the premiere of the first trailer from her new film Dora and The Lost City of Gold from Paramount Pictures. It thrilled so many kids to see a character many had been invested in since it debuted on the Nickelodeon channel 19 years ago, finally get a live-action adaptation from a major film studio it deserved. Time’s Up! The 2018 Golden Globes’ Branded In Reclamation, Inclusivity and Purpose

01.8.2018 | By |

This year’s Golden Globes, a usually festive, yet historically disreputable and controversial show, had an air of legitimacy behind its wings last night. It was the first time that I took the Globes seriously and that began with the commitment from a diverse group of Hollywood women who gave the Time’s Up movement meaning and intention. The night also gave way to an overarching theme of reclamation, inclusivity, and purpose. Read More

Eugenio Derbez, Anna Faris and Eva Longoria Bring The Laughs In Overboard Remake Trailer

12.21.2017 | By |

Eugenio Derbez is at again. His new film which he is producing and starring in with co-stars Anna Faris and Eva Longoria is a remake of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s “Overboard” from 1987. The movie wasn’t that good, but it did have some occasional laughs along with some lovable performances from Hawn and her beau. Can this quasi-Latino ensemble create something better? Read More

Will Lifetime Develop More Latino Programming Because Of The Success Of ‘Devious Maids’?

09.23.2013 | By |

Looks like Lifetime’s new Latina themed show Devious Maids is a bonafide hit and a bonafide hit with Hispanics too as 19% of them in total viewers nearly doubles that of Lifetime’s primetime average. In other words, 9.5% of Hispanics watch other Lifetime programming vs. 19% of them watching Devious Maids. You can attribute the success of the show to specific themes: Latina protagonists, Latino themed situations, guilty pleasure escapism and a sexy Latin vibe to the show has really become a point of engagement TV for Hispanics. Who knows how many others are watching on an iPad or On Demand added to the ratings success. Read More

Lifetime’s ‘Devious Maids’ Will Now Air Show In Spanish

06.4.2013 | By |

In a first for an English language network, Lifetime is offering a pre-linear sneak peek of its ‘Devious Maids‘ pilot in English and Spanish set for June 9th, 2 weeks before its on-air premiere.

Post-premiere, the network will make each episode of Devious Maids available in both English and Spanish across these platforms the day after its Sunday 10:00 pm ET/PT airing. For its linear telecast, Devious Maids will be available in Spanish to standard definition viewers via the second audio program service.

Executive producers Eva Longoria has a lot riding on this show since her previous effort with NBC – “Ready for Love”– was a dreadful flop. If America doesn’t embrace this show, her career as a producer will look bleak moving forward. Then again look at M. Night Shyamalan‘s career. Read More
