It’s #FUNDAYMONDAY at the TODAY show this morning. Had a chance to discuss some couples gossip with Kathie Lee and Jenna Bush (Hoda is out on maternity leave), but my favorite topic was the Ricky Martin news about him being cast in FX’s upcoming miniseries “Versace: American Crime Story” premiering 2018. It’s a Latin-affair since he’s joining Edgar Ramirez and Penelope Cruz in the show. Take a look above at the video and if you have a chance, listen to my “Highy Relevant” podcast when you can!Read More
Sacha Baron Cohen was in NYC this past week to talk about his new action comedy – The Brothers Grimsby – a James Bond like buddy film where moments can get VERY uncomfortable amongst brothers. Spanish actress and Oscar winner Penélope Cruz co-stars in it, but much like Zoolander 2, she has been opting for comedy as of late (which sounds more like she can’t get any quality work and money is running dry). Cameron Diaz as Malkina, uses Penélope Cruz as Laura, to glean some invaluable information that may have dire consequences, in The Counselor
October could very well be the single best month to watch movies of 2013. When you do a quick overview of the films being released this month, five of them are the frontrunners to win Best Picture at the Oscars 2014. Many of these movies possess all star casts, top flight directors and innovative and fresh stories. They are also coming fresh off of great reviews at Venice, Telluride, Toronto and New York Film Festivals. Not to be ignored are the commercial fare which includes Arnold and Sly together in a full feature film as opposed to cameos and one of the greatest assembled cast of Hispanics in film history in ‘Machete Kills‘ and ‘The Counselor‘. Do yourself a service, if you haven’t been to the movies all year, this is the one month you should step out and watch one.

Penélope Cruz is back with Pedro Almodóvar to star in the Spanish film “Standby Lovers.” No word yet on who’ll she be playing, but what we do know is that film is a comedy about an affair on an airplane. Sounds funny already!
She’ll be joining a very good cast of Spanish actors: Lola Duenas (“Volver”), Cecilia Roth (“All About My Mother”), Paz Vega (“Talk To Her”) and Javier Camara (“Talk To Her”) plus newcomers, Carlos Areces, Raul Arevalo and Jose Maria Yazpik.
After she films “Standby Lovers” later this summer, she’ll officially join Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor”, a very awaited film with an elite cast composed of: Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz and Cruz’s husband Javier Bardem. No official word yet on her role, but she might be playing the part of Laura, the counselor’s fiancé. This film will mark the second time she works with her Bardem after the very lauded Vicky Cristina Barcelona from Woody Allen. She won her first Oscar Award for her performance with him. She was hilarious in the movie.
“The Counselor” is written by Cormac McCarthy and centers on the titular character who tries to make some quick money through a drug deal, with things going terribly wrong in the process.
