Watch: New Trailer for ‘Thor: The Dark World’

08.7.2013 | By |

The second trailer for Marvel’s ‘Thor’ sequel, ‘Thor: The Dark World,’ is here. The new movie looks more polished than before, but still holds that trademark Marvel humor. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) seems to be a big part of the story line – why wouldn’t he? Every geek knows that Hiddleston is the most popular actor in the Marvel universe right now, even rivaling Robert Downey Jr! The movie will be released November 8th, 2013.

‘Sin City 2’: Robert Rodriguez has an official release date!

10.30.2012 | By |

'Sin City 2': Robert Rodriguez has an official release date!

Theres is an official release date for “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For” from Mexican-American director Robert Rodriguez. It is scheduled for release October 4, 2013.

Rodriguez wrapped up “Machete Kills” in 29 days before jumping into “Sin City 2” and is shooting on his soundstages in his native Austin. But while the movie may be underway, casting for major parts is still underway. So far, the only Latinas casted are Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson, who played Nancy Callahan and Gail respectively. Alba received a lot of screen time and her character was key for many scenes along Mickey Rourke.

Rourke’s character, Marv, was killed in the original film but this story precedes that tragic fate. Of note in the article, too, is the fact that Angelina Jolie, who was expected to play the major role of Ava, is not likely to appear. So that role is still being cast. Same goes for Dwight, originally played by Clive Owen. Owen was expected to return but apparently Dwight’s story in “Sin City 2” sees him get facial reconstruction so they will likely just recast the character.

Rodriguez and co-director Frank Miller wrote the script for the new movie, which is a combination of comics storylines and a new one written specifically by Miller for the movie. One of the storylines being adapted is A Dame to Kill For, originally published in 1993 and featuring a man named Dwight entangled in a complicated and deadly relationship with a femme fatale named Ava.

Is an ‘E.T’ sequel actually happening?

06.14.2012 | By |

Is an 'E.T' sequel actually happening?

In what was supposed to be called “E.T: Nocturnal Fears,” Steven Spielberg was given a sequel treatment that he had to pass on because it was too dark compared to the original. “ET: The Extra-Terrestrial” grossed almost $800 million worldwide and is considered one of the greatest works of Spielberg’s career.

Speaking to the American Film Institute, Steven Spielberg explained why “ET 2” never happened. “Sequels can be very dangerous because they compromise your truth as an artist,” he said. “I think a sequel to ‘ET’ would do nothing but rob the original of its virginity. People only remember the latest episode, while the pilot tarnishes.

According to sources, the ‘E.T’ sequel had a second spaceship land at the end, but the aliens onboard are evil. They’re searching for a stranded extraterrestrial named Zrek (aka ET), who is sending a call for “Help.” The evil creatures are carnivorous and are an albino fraction (mutation) of the same civilization ET belongs to. The two separate groups have been at war for decades. Later in the script, Elliot and his friends are kidnapped and violently interrogated by Korel (the alien commander), demanding to know the whereabouts of Zrek. Thankfully, ET is aware of the attack and arrives to save the day.

But it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Spielberg won’t consider directing an ‘E.T’ sequel: “I can’t imagine ever making another one, unless I wake up one morning with a master thought.”

‘Star Trek 2’ to be released in IMAX 3D

06.13.2012 | By |

'Star Trek 2' to be released in IMAX 3D

Paramount Pictures today announced that the sequel to J.J. Abrams’ 2009 blockbuster Star Trek, will be released in the immersive IMAX 3D format on May 17, 2013. The film represents the second feature in the ground-breaking franchise to be released in IMAX following Star Trek, which grossed more than $375 million at the worldwide box office.

Following on the heels of Paramount Pictures’ and Bad Robot’s 2011 hit, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, the filmmakers have once again taken full advantage of the IMAX® camera as well as the clarity and scope that The IMAX Experience® provides in order to transport fans into this 23rd century world. Several key sections of the film that feature big action set pieces have been captured with IMAX cameras, which has become an integral tool for visionary filmmakers to tell their amazing stories.

Exclusively in IMAX, sequences shot with the extremely high-resolution cameras will expand to fill the entire screen and further immerse the audience in the vast dimension and adventure of this highly-anticipated follow-up. Directed by J.J. Abrams and written by Damon Lindelof  (Prometheus), Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers, Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek) the sequel follows another chapter of the USS Enterprise crew’s exploration into the unknown. Returning to their posts on the Enterprise are Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, and Bruce Greenwood.  They are joined by new cast members Peter Weller and Alice Eve.

“We were so thrilled with the creative results of shooting IMAX for Mission: Impossible that we jumped at the chance to use the format for Star Trek. All expectations were exceeded — the action and resolution is insane at this scale.  We cannot wait for audiences to see the crew of the Enterprise in a way they never have before,” said J.J. Abrams.

The IMAX release of the Star Trek sequel will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

First set pics of Adam Sandler in 'Grown Ups 2'!

It’s funny how sometimes you stumble upon some good movie news exclusives from people that have nothing to do with the Hollywood scene.

Michael Kay, from ESPN Radio 98.7FM NY (formerly known as ESPN 1050AM) and the Yankees’ TV play by play man is an extra on Adam Sandler‘s new comedy sequel Grown Ups 2, starring Salma Hayek, Taylor Lautner, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, Kevin James, Maya Rudolph, David Spade, Nick Swardson, Cheri Oteri. He was tweeting pics from the set and we now have them here for your first look, sneak peek.

The pics have Sandler what looks to be at a high school football field getting ready to throw the football. Kay looks like the high school coach ready to take Sandler thru the mill.

Grown Ups 2‘ is a follow up to the 2010 comedy about a group of childhood friends who reunite years later. The first part was one of the worst films of that year and we still can’t believe a sequel was greenlit. Sandler has some hardcore fans.

‘Grown Ups 2’ is set to be released July 12, 2013.

‘Terminator 5’ will be rated R

01.28.2012 | By |

'Terminator 5' will be rated R

If Terminator 5 shooting was the wise decision is to be rated R and actually will be. The fifth installment of the Terminator, will have an R rating in the words of Megan Ellison, owner and president of Annapurna Pictures studio, which owns the rights to the series.

The first three “Terminator” were all rated R, but then the director McG for “Terminator Salvation”, decided it would be better to lower the rating to PG-13 with the hope that the franchise could be seen by a wider audience with the hope that it would result in higher gross income.

The ace up the sleeve of this fifth installment will undoubtedly be the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger to the franchise. Is he the Terminator? What character would play? All in good time boys.
