This Week In Movies: ‘Christopher Robin,’ ‘The Spy Who Dumped Me,’ ‘Never Going Back’

07.31.2018 | By |

This is a very good ‘This Week In Movies’. There’s a little bit for everyone from some family fair, comedy, documentaries and indie with some fresh faces and rising stars. First up is Disney’s Christopher Robin, essentially a live-action Winnie The Pooh movie. This one should choke on you up.  If you’re into politics, author Dinesh D’Souza compares Abraham Lincoln’s presidency to Trump’s in Death of a Nation, and indie film Never Goin’ Back stars Argentine actress Camila Morrone who is a star in the making harkening  back to Italy’s Sofia Loren.  See what else is here that you might like to see and GO SEE IT! And remember to listen to our podcast this Friday for our review of movies and interviews with filmmakers and other notable figures of American and Latino pop culture.

41 Fall Trailers That Inspired Me To Watch Movies Again

09.10.2017 | By |

A confession. I stopped watching movies for a while. Call it movie burn-out or the unequivocal fact that television is the new movies. Whatever the reasons, I needed a break from the two-hour suck ups I couldn’t get back. I was seeing so much junk that I felt guilty I wasn’t using the time in my life more efficiently. Then I saw the trailers of the new movies releasing this fall and I actually got excited, thrilled in fact. Apart from some gems, this 2017 has been the pits in Hollywood which is why these 41 trailers I’m now sharing with you, should get you excited too. These movies speak to me somehow, either to my passions, interests and likes or have reminded me of a past experience I’ve had or the fantasy of a future one I’m interested in having. So without further delay, here are “41 Fall Trailers That Inspired Me To Watch Movies Again”. *(Stay tuned for our Fall Movie Preview on our Highly Relevant Podcast this month) Read More

This Week In Movies: ‘Ghost In The Shell,’ ‘The Boss Baby’

03.27.2017 | By |

It is a very feeble week for movies. There are only five films releasing this week. That is a head-scratcher and perhaps one of the few times that five films come out in a single week. Nevertheless, Scarlett Johansson’s Ghost in the Shell is the biggest release this weekend. It has the star power, the budget and the distribution release. It comes with some controversy though (whitewashing is mentioned), but it does look fun! Enjoy the trailers and listen to our podcast for our in-depth reviews of this week’s releases and more! This Week In Movies: ‘Batman v Superman,’ ‘Born To Be Blue’

03.21.2016 | By |

We’re a little more than half-way through March and this week’s movies offer a little somehting for everyone. One which has captivated my attention is Ethan Hawke’s Born To Be Blue, a jazz film about Chet Baker, arguably the most popular trumpeter after Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie. I had met with Hawke last year and he showed me several pics of the production and we discussed favorite albums plus his legacy. Also, we should address the armored bat in the room – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is the most anticipated film of 2016. The reason it is more anticipated than Captain America: Civil War, is the tremendous pressure and risk behind the success of WB and DC’s franchise set-up film. Read More

‘Concussion’: Could This Film Win Will Smith His First Oscar?

08.31.2015 | By |

In Ali, Will Smith came close to embodying the essence of pugilist Muhammad Ali. In The Pursuit of Happyness, Smith ventured into the depths of his acting like never before. Both roles garnered him Oscar nominations for Best Actor, but in this first trailer of his new film Concussion, Smith seems to be at the peak of his dramatic acting. Read More

Watch First Trailers Of Netflix’s Hispanic Shows ‘Narcos’ & ‘Club De Cuervos’

07.15.2015 | By |

This week, Netflix premiered two trailers of their new shows – Narcos and Club De Cuervos – targeted at reaching the ever so influential and powerful Hispanic audience. The question is will they work. Interestingly, one of them, Club de Cuervos, is their first original series spoken in Spanish, while the other, Narcos, is spoken in English. Both have Latin themes that attract an almost fanatical attention from Hispanics – soccer and drug cartels. Read More

New Trailer! ‘Need For Speed’

11.18.2013 | By |

Is this film a Fast & Furious wanna-be or is it the real deal? It looks legit from what we can ascertain from the brand new trailer! In an exciting return to the great car culture films of the 1960s and ’70s that tap into what makes the American myth of the open road so enticing, “Need for Speed,” based on the video game, is car culture at its apex. I did an exclusive behind the scenes set visit that I’ll bring to you very soon with the stars and director. Not to be missed! Check out the full theatrical trailer above! Read More
