As temperatures heightened in United States, “I Love It” became the anthem for spring 2013 after its release early February, but the song was so damn good that it made its way into summer time. Now, Icona Pop, the Swedish synthpop duo responsible for all this madness is hoping to keep the hype going with its debut LP and next official U.S. single.
“This Is … Icona Pop,” is the name of the new album which is set to release in the U.S. this September 24 via Ten/Big Beat Records. The album features the promotional single “All Night” along with the duo’s hit “I Love It” featuring Charli XCX.
“I Love It” is still dominating the charts with such force that this week it became RIAA Certified Double Platinum, selling more than 2 million copies in the United States alone. The song also recently knocked Robin Thicke off of the No. 1 position in the UK Charts this month.
So while we wait for September to come, check out “All Night.”
The power duo has its first North American tour planned, the “Iconic Tour.” The two month excursion will kick off in Lollapalooza in Chicago this August 2. Luckily for us they set two New York dates: September 20 in Webster Hall and September 25 in Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg.
For me, their new single “All Night” is a great song and there is no doubt that it will receive a great amount of play both in the clubs and on the radio, but do I think it will surpass the grandeur that is “I Love It?” No freaking way! “I Love It” is one of those rare songs that almost everyone likes and no one ever gets tired of listening to. It has the right amount bass (perfect for fist pumping) and unbelievably catchy lyrics. For now I don’t think Icona Pop will become a one-hit-wonder, but they surely have their work cut out for them. I am very excited to hear their full LP this September and know if it will become part of the back to school playlist.
What do you think of their new single and are looking to catch them on tour. Leave us your thought in the comments below.
