Prince Royce made bachata a part of the official Super Bowl celebrations.
The Dominican singer with the modern-day Elvis cut and baby face adorned with two perfectly carved dimples, took the #Pepcity stage in NY’s winter village at Bryant Park to delight fans with a free concert recently.
As a thank you to New York and New Jersey, PepsiCo built a temporary 80 foot-wide by 40 foot-high custom-designed dome which housed the show. Once inside, the lucky crowd was warmed up by DJs from New York’s La Mega and Hot 97 who played an eclectic mix Latin and urban tracks.
Later, the lights dim and the guiro, congas, electric guitars, bass, and drums cue that something big is coming. Seconds later, the deafening screams of women and men of all ages certify us that their Prince has arrived.
He starts the night off with “Ven Conmigo” and continues the set with some his best hits including “Darte un Beso,” “Stand By Me,” “Las Cosas Pequeñas,” and “Corazon sin Cara.”
This concert was a one-of-a-kind success. The small venue allowed people in the back to have a great view of the show and the short stage (about two feet tall) allowed Royce a more personal interaction with the crowd. During the show, he handed red roses to various fans and had a deeper connection with the rest of the audience because he was significantly closer to them, compared to an actual concert space where the stage is much taller.
The bachatero gave an astounding upbeat performance that allowed fans to join in, dance and enjoy the night. He is a true charmer and knows exactly how to enamor the crowd.
Currently, he is working on a new all-English musical project set to debut this year.
