The “1-4-0″: #TransformersAgeOfExtinction is an overload of action that lasts a whopping 2HRS 45MIN. Heavy on the action, thin in the story department.
The Gist: Enemies from the past and a new design of evil Transformers come looking for Optimus Prime, luckily, a human family helps him not only save his hide, but that of Earth.
What Works: Seeing Optimus Prime anytime is awesome. He is quickly becoming one of the most legendary superhero leaders in movie history. The CGI and 3D is always ridiculous in these movies and Mark Wahlberg, though miscast, lends some summer star-power to the proceedings. Also, there’s a shitload of action that will satisfy even the most demanding of action enthusiasts.
What Doesn’t Work: In the first half hour, the first thing that hits you right off the bat is that there’s something off about the movie. It’s the storyline. It feels tremendously disjointed, there’s a disagreeable flow from plot to plot and the purpose of the film never seems to be clear. Because of it, tension is absent, everyone seems lost with what they’re motivations and roles are. You’re expecting so much from the film and it just lets you down.
Look, I love Mark Wahlberg, but I hate to say it, I think he’s terribly miscast in this flick. His acting style, his character’s role, nothing seemed to sell him over except his popularity and name. This doesn’t mean he acted poorly or that he didn’t give it all he had. To be frank, he just doesn’t fit in the Transformer’s universe. Also, Michael Bay’s action movies usually suffer from some deplorable dialogue and in this movie, it’s in its full splendor. Add to that those extremely cheesy slo-mo shots, plue some overly-done drama from Wahlberg (most likely requested by Bay himself) and “Transformers: Age Of Extinction” is nothing but ordinary. Let’s not forget the almost obscenely 3hr duration.
Pay or Nay? Pay. It’s not terrible, it’s just that for all the hype, money and wait, you expect the world. The film manages to entertain because of all the gloss, but just be aware, it’s not better than the original.

bobThere is no action except for the few 1-2 minute fight scenes and the final battle, with no real story development, the only thing good about this movie was the dinobots and new designs for the transformers

GuestJulie, if you read the review again, I didn’t say Mark acted poorly, I wrote that I felt he didn’t fit the Transformers universe. He’s better when the movie revolves around him as the main attraction then when he revolves around a movie’s other lead characters.

JulieI really liked the movie, Mark Wahlberg did a great job. He put more action into the movie by shooting a gun at them and saving the Autobots where Shia didn’t do a bad job either but he didn’t shot or anything in the first movies although in the 3rd movie he did do something other then run around with a cube in his hands, he actually fought somebody. Where Mark fought through most of the movie well trying to protect his daughter and keeping her away from her boyfriend. So, I disagree with you, I agree with fivel, “You will only find the fault with anything, you will never be happy!”

KPCompletely disagree with this. I really liked Mark in this movie. I actually think he made it better than the Shia’s Transformer roles. 3 out of 5 stars? Come on now. The movie was beautifully made, What does how long a movie run for have anything to do with how good a movie is? If you cant sit in a dark-air conditioned room sipping on a soda and eating popcorn for a few hours, you probably joined the wrong business.

Danielle ChadbourneYeah seriously, I would have been thoroughly disappointed if the movie was shorter. I have to completely disagree with this guys review, it was definitely worth all the hype. It was refreshing to see a new story line because they totally exhausted it in Dark of the Moon. While the story line is minimal, it’s exactly how a transformers movie should be made, an action movie with a story line, not the other way around. I think Mark Wahlberg did an awesome job in his role, and the movie flowed very well. This guy needs to get his head out of his a** and watch the movie again.
