Taken 3 (Movie Review)

01.10.2015 | By |

The “1-4-0″: #Taken3 is already up for worst movie of 2015. Between stilted dialogue, a laughable villain & embarrassing performances, this is more comedy than thriller. Read More

Paddington (Movie Review)

01.6.2015 | By |

The “1-4-0″: #Paddington means well. It’s an animated film full of inventiveness and charm, regrettably, it’s very predictable and not narratively compelling enough. Read More

The Interview (Movie Review)

12.18.2014 | By |

**On December 10th, 2014, a few critics were invited by Sony Pictures to watch THE INTERVIEW. I was one of them. Here are my thoughts on the now historic and controversial action-comedy, which most likely will never be seen.

Top Five (Movie Review)

12.17.2014 | By |

The “1-4-0”: #TopFive is the best comedy of 2014. It is an urban Stardust Memories/Annie Hall. Chris Rock gives us a smart, romantic, thought-provoking film along with all the humor we’ve known from him.

The Pyramid (Movie Review)

12.5.2014 | By |

The “1-4-0″: #ThePyramid is a mix between ‘As Above, So Below’ and ‘The Descent’. It’s a juvenile, fun, horror thrill-ride much like the ones you experience at Universal Studios. Read More

Horrible Bosses 2 (Movie Review)

11.26.2014 | By |

The “1-4-0”: #HorribleBosses2 propagates the same silly comedy that is tiring out in America. There isn’t anything inventive/clever worth praising here. Read More

Nightcrawler (Movie Review)

11.4.2014 | By |

*Updated December 2025

The “1-4-0”: As someone who worked in a newsroom for close to 10 years, I can tell you that director/screenwriter Dan Gilroy‘s dark and twisted crime journalism film, Nightcrawler, walks a fine line that borders on farcical. Despite a terrific performance from Jake Gyllenhaal and an interesting premise, the film’s gloomy and gritty approach only accomplishes a glimpse of the truth of how that field of the TV newsroom operates.
