New Trailer: ‘The Imitation Game’ Looks Like An Oscar Best Pic

07.21.2014 | By |

Movies with themes of WWII or geniuses or mathematicians in central characters - think ‘Good Will Hunting,’ ‘A Beautiful Mind’ – usually get lots of love from the Oscar committee. The latest is ‘The Imitation Game‘ from The Weinstein Company. It has all the markings, characteristics and traits you can ask for. The trailer is compelling even though most of the stars are not A list. Regardless, ‘The Hurt Locker’ won Best Pic with an unknown cast at the time. Look for ‘The Imitation Game’ to make some awards noise this Fall.  Read More

This Week In Movies: ‘Earth To Echo,’ ‘Tammy,’ ‘Life Itself’

06.30.2014 | By |

The viewing for the World Cup 2014 has increased tremendously, but that hasn’t stopped people from going to the movies, evident by the ‘Transformers 4’ box office numbers. 10 new film releases will be competing for your eyeballs and money this week. This is perhaps one of the more weaker weeks for quality films. If the “big” release is WB ‘Tammy,’ we’re all in trouble. There are some good movies to see such as ‘Earth to Echo’ and ‘Life Itself,’ but we see the return of Bernardo Bertolucci behind the camera, Nick Cannon does his debut as a director, and the animated Spanish language drama ‘Wrinkles’ draws interest. After the jump, you’ll see a list ranked by order of my interest. New Trailer: ‘Fury’ Starring Brad Pitt, Michael Peña

06.25.2014 | By |

The last WWII movie I saw was “Monuments Men” by George Clooney. It was a disappointment. Clooney’s best friend, Brad Pitt, has decided to do one as well but with more bite, more drama, and darker. Watch the trailer of “Fury” which also stars Michael Peña, Shia LeBouef, and Logan Lerman. Is it Oscar-worthy Read More

This Week In Movies: ‘Transformers 4,’ Snowpiercer’

06.23.2014 | By |

We’re into the middle 2014 World Cup and 12 new film releases will be competing for your eyeballs and money this week. Full of some big names from television and film, some of the most compelling pieces are Chris Evans’ Snowpiercer which is a supposed sci-fi force, Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler team up for the very first time, Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine does his film debut, an iconic fashion designer gets his own biopic, a few documentaries showcase some thought-provoking subjects and one of Philip K. Dick‘s stories finds itself to the big creen again. After the jump, you’ll see a list ranked by order of my interest. Read More

New Trailer: ‘The Judge’ starring Robert Downey Jr.

06.19.2014 | By |

Warner Bros. just released Robert Downey Jr.‘s brand new trailer of ‘The Judge‘. It is in my opinion a film full of Oscar potential. Filled with an Academy Award cast, a magnificent soundtrack, an enthralling premise and an October release, WB seems to be positioning it for an Oscar run.  Read More

06.17.2014 | By |

I’ve been sleeping on this film because I’m not that familiar with the characters, but after seeing this new international UK trailer for ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy‘…whoa! I think this movie is going to be a great addition to the Marvel family! The US versions haven’t wowed me, but this one brought it home for me. Watch it now! Read More

This Week In Movies: ’22 Jump Street,’ ‘The Rover,’ ‘The Signal’

06.9.2014 | By |

During the beginning of the 2014 World Cup week, 13 new film releases will be competing for your eyeballs and money this week and they look pretty darn good, particularly the art house set. Full of some big names from television and film, some of the most compelling pieces are Lullaby from director Andrew Levitas which brings a plethora of Academy Award nominees to the table. You also have The Rover which sees an interesting casting between Guy Pierce and Robert Pattinson. The documentaries are perhaps the most intriguing tackling contemporary topics from high-cost education and marijuana. Also, two Spanish-language films look to make you laugh and cry, one of them being Alex de la Iglesias‘ new horror comedy. How will Aaron Paul do in his latest and can indie sci-fi The Signal really become a cult classic? In regards to the wide releases, let’s see how 22 Jump Street does with the public. I saw it and it wasn’t a pretty site until the end montage.

This Week In Movies: ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past,’ ‘Blended’

05.19.2014 | By |

We have two more weeks to go in May and the 13 new film releases for this week are lukewarm at best. There are exceptions. The new X-Men film, which I saw, is very good, but not better than “Captain America: The Winter Soldier“, which is the film that all superhero films will be compared to against this year. Also, after 23 years of not directing a film, legendary cult director Alejandro Jodorowsky is back at it in “The Dance of Reality“. Some other films have star-studded casts, yet have no buzz around it from their respective studios as if they weren’t interested in promoting them. I could barely find descent trailers from them. Regardless, they are listed here for your information.     Read More
