‘The Amazing Spider-Man’: New Australian trailer!

05.29.2012 | By |

'The Amazing Spider-Man': New Australian trailer!

A movie trailer can often make or destroy a film, especially a blockbuster film. It all depends on which part of the story the studio decides to focus on. In the case of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, Columbia Pictures focused on telling the origins of Spider-Man and his search for his abandonment by his parents to American audiences. But that’s not the case in Australia where their new trailer for the arachnid hero is much more entertaining, more balanced with action and humor and less oriented to Spidey’s origins.

To be frank, this is the best preview of the film we’ve seen, and if American audiences had seen this first, we would be discussing how tough the competition would be against “The Avengers“. The American versions of the Spidey trailers are dark in tone, dramatic, and do not have the trademark humor with which we grew up reading in the Marvel comics and Saturday morning cartoons.

The Australian international trailer gives us some new scenes we can sink our teeth into such as The Lizard dialogue, and interactions with Parker and Gwen Stacy.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” opens on July 3 in the United States.

Exclusive: First Spanish-language trailer of ‘Dream House’

09.16.2011 | By |

Exclusive: First Spanish-language trailer of 'Dream House'

We just got our hands on the exclusive ‘Dream House’ Spanish language trailer from Universal Studios. You won’t find this video anywhere else except here. The film stars Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts in a half-ghost, half-mystery thriller about a family who unknowingly move into a home where several grisly murders were committed…only to find themselves the killer’s next target. Successful publisher Will Atenton (Craig) quit a job in New York City to relocate his wife, Libby (Weisz), and two girls to a quaint New England town. But as they settle into their new life, they discover their perfect home was the murder scene of a mother and her children. And the entire city believes it was at the hands of the husband who survived. When Will investigates the tragedy, his only lead comes from Ann Paterson (Watts), a neighbor who was close to the family that died. As Will and Ann piece together the disturbing puzzle, they discover that the story of the last man to leave Will’s dream house will be just as horrifying to the one who came next.

The buzz around the ‘Dream House’ is rooted in the original trailer that supposedly reveals the twist of the film half way through. But according to an executive producer, the twist shown in the original trailer (which is not shown in the Spanish trailer) is not the main twist of the movie. So is there another one? We’ll all have to wit for the reviews to come in and see.

Dream House will be released September 30th, 2011.

‘Justin Bieber 3D’ makes its trailer debut

10.26.2010 | By |

'Justin Bieber 3D' makes its trailer debut

New York (USA), Oct. 26 (ShowBizCafe.com) – With the shocking success of ‘Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert’ and ‘Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience,’ Paramount Pictures decided to take the story of the young Canadian singer Justin Bieber to the big screen in a biopic directed by Jon Chu entitled ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never 3D’. The film, which premieres on February 11, 2011, Valentine’s Day, had its debut last night at his concert in Los Angeles and now you can see it in the video below.

The trailer begins with images of Justin as a child singing and playing musical instruments, all as part of his daily life. The focus then switches to his beginnings as a star and famous people who helped him along the road to fame. Finally we see testimonies of love from his fans and the songs they all obsessively sing as ‘Baby’ and ‘Somebody to Love’. The film ends with Bieber giving words of encouragement to his audience – “there will be times when people tell you you cannot live your dreams,” says Bieber. “This is what I say: Never say never”

The business of ‘Bieber’ continues to boom all around – I mean he has even signed a deal with publisher Harper Collins to create a memoir on his life and his path to the top of the music industry. This guy has become an economic attraction for film executives and publishers who see enormous potential to make money in a variety of properties.

Initially, the documentary filmmaker Davis Guggenheim (It Might Get Loud, An Inconvenient Truth) was going to make the Bieber project, but looks his fans got on him. Guggenheim left the project after receiving a deluge of criticism via the web by his own fans. Scooter Braun, his manager and LA Reid, chairman of Island Def Jam, will produce the film.

‘The Expendables’ Trailer: Stallone, Arnold, Willis!

04.2.2010 | By |

'The Expendables' Trailer: Stallone, Arnold, Willis!

To the left of you is the official trailer to The Expendables. This is the movie that Sylvester Stallone has been working on for almost 2 years. I love the concept… unite the most prolific action stars from the 80’s in one movie. For people over 30, that’s like the dream action movie!! Well we have the final trailer and it has some cameos you’re gonna love. Check it out and get pumped!

Here’s the full synopsis just in case you’re wondering: (spoiler alert)

The Expendables is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things arent quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers.

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) is a man with nothing to lose. Fearless and void of emotion, he is the leader, the sage and the strategist of this tight-knit band of men who live on the fringe. His only attachment is to his pickup truck, his seaplane and his team of loyal modern-day warriors. His is a true cynic who describes what he does as removing those hard to get at stains. The team behind him is made up of Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), former SAS and a savant with anything that has a blade; Yin Yang (Jet Li), a master at close-quarter combat; Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), who has known Barney for ten years and is a long-barrel weapons specialist; Toll Road (Randy Couture), a skilled demolitions expert and considered the intellect of the group; and Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), a combat veteran and an expert in precision sniping who struggles with his own demons.

When the mysterious Church offers Barney a job no one else would take, Barney and his team embark on what appears to be a routine mission: overthrow General Gaza (David Zayas), the murderous dictator of the small island country of Vilena and end the years of death and destruction inflicted on its people. On a reconnaissance mission to Vilena, Barney and Christmas meet their contact Sandra (Giselle Itie), a local freedom-fighter with a dark secret. They also come to learn who their true enemy is: rogue ex-CIA operative James Monroe (Eric Roberts) and his henchman Paine (Steve Austin). When things go terribly wrong, Barney and Christmas are forced to leave Sandra behind, essentially giving her a death sentence. Haunted by this failure, Barney convinces the team to return to Vilena to rescue the hostage and finish the job he started. And to perhaps save a soul: his own.

Spanish film, [REC 2], has new trailer!

07.7.2009 | By |

Spanish film, [REC 2], has new trailer!

[.REC] was an entertainingly supernasty Spanish zombie-rabies flick, about a group of firemen and residents (and a TV crew) quarantined in a block of flats. The American remake, Quarantine, was the same, but a bit slower.

And here’s [.REC] 2, once again directed by Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza. Picking up a few hours after the end of the original, there’s nothing in this trailer that looks terribly different to what we’ve seen before. We’ve got the military rather than the fire department, but other than that…

However, [SPOILER if you haven’t seen the first film] there is scope for exploring that attic, and the frankly mental Catholic Vatican Possession Virus plot thread that was rather altered for the Americanisation. Horror is often best unexplained, but if we’re going back to those flats, we hope we get upstairs sooner rather than later.

The trailer’s tagline is “se acabo la comedia”. Nice!

Eva Mendes in new trailer for ‘Bad Lieutenant’

05.28.2009 | By |

Eva Mendes in new trailer for 'Bad Lieutenant'

A new trailer for Werner Herzog’s (Grizzly Man) Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans has found its way online. The film is a quasi-remake of Abel Ferrara’s infamous 1992 film, which starred Harvey Keitel.

The new film stars Nicolas Cage as a crooked drug-addicted cop who takes sexual favors for bribes. The film co-stars Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer, Jennifer Coolidge and Fairuza Balk.

Filming began in July 2008 in Louisiana, and also around South Mississippi shooting some scenes at the Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis. A release date has yet to be scheduled.

The remake of the 1992 film Bad Lieutenant was first announced in May 2008 with Werner Herzog to direct and Nicolas Cage to star. The script for the remake was penned by TV writer William Finkelstein. One major change from the original film was moving the setting from New York City to New Orleans. Herzog insists that the film is not a remake, saying, “It only has a corrupt policeman as the central character and that’s about it.” At the Academy Awards in 2009, Herzog stated that he has never seen Ferrara’s film, saying “I haven’t seen it, so I can’t compare it. It has nothing to do with it.”

Abel Ferrara, director of the 1992 film, has been quoted by various media outlets as being very angry about this film. After the film was first announced, Ferrara was quoted as saying “As far as remakes go, … I wish these people die in Hell. I hope they’re all in the same streetcar, and it blows up.” When asked later for his response to Ferrara’s statements, Herzog stated that he does not know who Ferrara is, saying “I’ve never seen a film by him. I have no idea who he is.”

Watch the trailer after the jump, and leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Trailer Premiere of “In the Loop”

05.15.2009 | By |

Trailer Premiere of "In the Loop"

“In the Loop” is drawing instant comparisons to some of the great political and absurdist comedies such as “Doctor Strangelove”, “Wag the Dog”, “Thank You For Not Smoking”, “Monty Python”.

The film is a smart comedy with razor-sharp, truly laugh-out-loud dialogue that pokes fun at the absurdity and ineptitude of our highest leaders. With everyone looking out for number one, and the fate of the free world at stake (but apparently incidental), the hilarious ensemble cast of characters bumbles its way through Machiavellian political dealings, across continents, and toward comic resolutions that are unforeseeable.

“In the Loop” will be released in theaters on July 24th, 2009.
