We have two more weeks to go in May and the 13 new film releases for this week are lukewarm at best. There are exceptions. The new X-Men film, which I saw, is very good, but not better than “Captain America: The Winter Soldier“, which is the film that all superhero films will be compared to against this year. Also, after 23 years of not directing a film, legendary cult director Alejandro Jodorowsky is back at it in “The Dance of Reality“. Some other films have star-studded casts, yet have no buzz around it from their respective studios as if they weren’t interested in promoting them. I could barely find descent trailers from them. The unofficial Summer Movie month of May continues to release less films than April, 13 movie releases total, but they seem to be more intriguing and eye catching. Many are awaiting, arguably, the most anticipated summer movie in ‘Godzilla,’ which is exactly what people think it’s going to be – dark, plausible, fine acting and CGI bonkers. Also Jon Hamm tries to transition over to movies in a Disney film, Joaquin Phoenix is the star of ‘The Immigrant‘ but it seems to be getting no love on buzz.
