This Week In Movies: ‘Neighbors,’ ‘Chef,’ ‘Stage Fright’

05.5.2014 | By |

We begin the second week of May with 11 movie releases, and I have to say, most of them are interesting. Not much on the comercial side catches my eye, but the films in limited release do. “Chef” is Jon Favreau like you’ve never seen him before. It’s an honest performance for an honest movie about family and food. The Double along with God’s Pocket, which sees one of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s last performances seems to deliver the goods. Peruse at your leisure and see if anything else catches your attention! Read More

04.29.2014 | By |

The big news this week is that Zack Snyder is directing the new JUSTICE LEAGUE movie, which is DC Comics’ answer to The Avengers. In my weekly radio segment on the Luis Jimenez Show, “Lengua, Cámara y Acción,” Luis and I chat about which movie will audiences ultimately like better? Also, GEORGE CLOONEY is engaged and women are complaining he married ugly. And finally, Knicks President PHIL JACKSON is a bad tipper? I did the math and he left the appropriate tip, so why’s the NY Post pissed at him? Listen to the radio segment and tell us what you think! Read More

This Week In Movies: ‘The Protector 2,’ ‘Spider-Man 2,’ ‘Walk Of Shame’

04.28.2014 | By |

We begin the first week of May 2014 with a whopping 18 movie releases, which is a huge amount of films for one single week, not including all those arriving on VOD. Spider-Man 2 is the biggest movie of the week, but I must confess, the documentary DOCUMENTED caught my eye, as well as Kevin Spacey’s theater doc, NOW and BELLE which has had good buzz since TIFF. But since I like action so much, one usually can’t go wrong with a Tony Jaa action film in THE PROTECTOR 2. Not a bad week, but not a great week either. Nevertheless, peruse at your leisure and see if anything catches your attention. Read More
