Looks like Lifetime’s new Latina themed show Devious Maids is a bonafide hit and a bonafide hit with Hispanics too as 19% of them in total viewers nearly doubles that of Lifetime’s primetime average. In other words, 9.5% of Hispanics watch other Lifetime programming vs. 19% of them watching Devious Maids. You can attribute the success of the show to specific themes: Latina protagonists, Latino themed situations, guilty pleasure escapism and a sexy Latin vibe to the show has really become a point of engagement TV for Hispanics. Who knows how many others are watching on an iPad or On Demand added to the ratings success. Read More

I am a major fan of Ben Webster‘s music. His rendition of “When I Fall In Love” is love in its purest essence. When I found out Coleman Hawkins had recorded an album with Webster, well, you can just imagine my excitement to see if the meeting of two of the greatest saxophone tenors in jazz history was musical bliss. Alfonso Cuarón has come a long way from the streets of Mexico City. He’s now a three time Oscar nominee and has never won. But what I’m betting is that Cuarón will win one this year for his masterpiece film – Gravity.
When you see the film, you can easily see the movie being nominated for 7 Oscar awards – Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best VFX and Best Sound Mixing.
Cuarón recently sat down for an interview in Los Angeles with DP/30 to talk about the conception of the film, the production, and the new technology that is so great that audiences won’t notice any seams in the magic.
