Demián Bichir to debut as director in "Refugio"

In the drama “A Better Life” Carlos Galindo an undocumented immigrant from Mexico works illegitimately as a gardener in order provide his son opportunities he never had.  For this heartfelt role, the Mexican actor Demián Bichir earned an Academy Award nomination in 2011 that has set his career ablaze.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bichir is going to the next level and will make his debut as director and screenwriter for the indie love feature “Refugio.” The film tells the story of a young dreamer’s journey from being a boy to becoming a man. Born in the circus, he leaves his family and everything he knows behind in order to find a long lost love. Read More

Zoe Saldana To Join Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’?

As a futuristic group of heroes prepares to save our galaxy from evil the only question in mind is: will a Dominicana jump on board and become “the deadliest woman in the whole galaxy?”

Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter learned exclusively that Dominican actress Zoe Saldana is in negotiations to play Gamora in the James Gunn directed “Guardians of the Galaxy.” If a deal is reached she would join Chris Pratt, who is playing Star-Lord, and Dave Bautista, who is playing Drax the Destroyer. No word on who would portray the remaining team members: Groot a fireproof tree-like creature and Rocket Raccoon an anthropomorphic animal skilled in shooting.  Read More

Like a bug to light it seems that the movie industry has been attracted to real-life scandals and tragedies for years, look at the murderer and body snatcher Edward Theodore “Ed” Gein, the 33 trapped Chilean miners, or the death of singer Jenni Rivera these stories have all inspired ideas made for the big screen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it is now time for one of the most controversial stories of the Catholic Church to make its theater debut. DreamWorks and Participant Media plan to make a film about the church’s child molestation scandals. This past Tuesday, the two companies announced that they acquired the rights to material in the Boston Globe’s 2003 Pulitzer Prize-winning report about the decades-long abuse by priests and cover-ups by the church. This story by the Globe led to the resignation of the Boston Archbishop Cardinal Bernard Law, the publication added. Read More

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gomez has signed on to star in William H. Macy’s “Rudderless” alongside Felicity Huffman, Billy Crudup, Anton Yelchin, and Laurence Fishburne.

The film is a musical drama about a grieving father who comes across his late son’s original music. Inspired, he forms a band looking for a way to cope with the loss. The movie will be Macy’s directorial debut. Read More

Robert Rodriguez the film director, screenwriter, producer, cinematographer, editor and musician is one of the most recognized names in Hollywood and it’s pretty safe to say that if a movie that he had anything to do with came out, there would be at least a little buzz about it.

According to WorstPrevious, back in 2005, Rodriguez wrote the script for and co-produced along with Dimension Films “Curandero: Dawn of the Demon,” a supernatural thriller that flew under everyone’s radar.
