This Week In Movies: ‘Transcendence,’ ‘Fading Gigolo,’ ‘Heaven Is For Real’

04.15.2014 | By |

We begin the third week of April with a whopping 19 movie releases, which is a huge amount of films for one single week, not including all those arriving on VOD. This is probably one of the worst weeks in movies of the year as well. When Johnny Depp’s biggest competition this week is Marlon Wayans and some bears, that’s got to be a sad state of affairs. I mean, there is a penis documentary called ‘The Final Member’ that sounds like a joke, but it’s true. Despite that, perhaps the most beguiling film of the week is John Turturro’s ‘Fading Gigolo‘ which includes a rare appearance of Woody Allen as an actor in someone else’s film. That in itself is a treat. Peruse the rest of the line-up and see if anything catches your attention. Read More

Diego Luna: “Hollywood Wanted A ‘More Sexy’ ‘Cesar Chavez’ Movie”

03.25.2014 | By |

This week at a roundtable, I had the opportunity to chat with Diego Luna, director of the upcoming film Cesar Chavez. This Week In Movies: ‘Noah,’ ‘Sabotage,’ ‘Cesar Chavez’

03.24.2014 | By |

We begin the last week of March with ten movie releases. Arnold is back! as well as biblical films and the most anticipated Asian action film of the year amongst others. Noticeably, Latino films are trying to establish themselves as a mainstay in Hollywood with Cesar Chavez and an all-star cast of Latino actors. Protagonist Michael Peña is perhaps one of the best of them with an earshot of an Oscar sometime soon. Documentaries are rare this week with only the premise of a nanny photographer making the rounds. Apart from that, B actors from the 80s make appearances, but their films at least offer something intriguing, which means that their trailers are at least worth looking at. Read More

01.1.2014 | By |

Every year the power of the Latino consumer grows more and more, and this in turn has forced Hollywood to open its doors (though very slowly) for actual Hispanic movies. New Trailer: ‘Cesar Chavez’ starring Michael Peña

10.29.2013 | By |

The new trailer for the movie Cesar Chavez just dropped and we have it for you to watch!

Directed by Diego Luna, starring with Michael Pena in the lead role, America Ferrara, Rosario Dawson and John Malkovich, Chávez chronicles the birth of a modern American movement led by famed civil rights leader and labor organizer, Cesar Chavez. Torn between his duties as a husband and father and his commitment to bringing dignity and justice to others, Chavez embraced non-violence as he battled greed and prejudice in his struggle for the rights of farm workers. His triumphant journey is a remarkable testament to the power of one individual’s ability to change the system.

What do you think of the trailer? Think it will do well. Let us know in the comments section below!
