If you haven’t seen it already, we got out first look the new Avengers: Infinity War trailer… And let me tell you, I was SHOOK by it. Click for the full breakdown! 👇🏻
The trailer starts off with this beautiful shot of an alien planet. While Nick Fury ( Samuel L. Jackson) narrates the original sentiment of the Avengers Initiative “There was an idea…” We then fade into said planet where a distraught Tony Stark ( Robert Downey Jr.) is sitting. We then hear Tony continue the narrative “To bring together a group of remarkable people…”
We then see Doctor Strange ( Benedict Cumberbatch) and fellow Mystic Wong (Benedict Wong) standing over someone who possibly should not be there. Who is it?
Oh, It’s Bruce Banner ( Mark Ruffalo) who fell through the roof. How rude.
“To see if we could become something more” brings one of the first surprises of the trailer. We get our first look at, not the synthetic version we saw in Age of Ultron and Civil War, but a human version of Vision (Paul Bettany) as well as the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olson).
“So when they needed us, we could fight the battles…” says, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) as he stares out of portholes of a ship which probably means he hasn’t gotten very far since the end of Ragnarok. This ship also bears a heavy resemblance to the Guardians of the galaxy ship… But who knows for sure.
And finally, “…that they never could” from Black Widow ( Scarlett Johansson) Who we see staring at a Bruce Banner ( they haven’t seen each other since he ran off at the end of Age of Ultron) standing next to a severe Hulkbuster arm. They seem to meet in Wakandan, where the legendary Black Panther is said to reside.
The next shot seems to take place after Bruce decided to use the room to let himself in. It seems that Dr. Strange and Wong are not alone. Tony Stark is with them. It is also apparent by the looks on everyones faces that there is some kind of chaos going on outside.
Even Peter Parker (Tom Holland) can sense it. (side note: Who else is excited that they FINALLY let Spiderman be an Avenger!)
Yup. Giant floating circles are never a good sign no matter what universe you’re from. We also hear a new voice: Thanos (Josh Brolin), the main antagonist in the movie. ““In time, you will know what it’s like to lose. To feel so desperately that you’re right, yet to fail, all the same.”
Clearly this sight is not a welcome one. We see our heroes ready to fight. Also, Tony has an arc reactor installed on him even though he got it removed in Iron Man 3. Hopefully Marvel will tell us why he is currently wearing on again.
Ok. Who gave Loki ( Tom Hiddelston) the Tesseract? Wasn’t the first Avengers proof enough that we can’t give him powerful, space altering artifacts? I know that this is probably a continuation of the post-credit scene from Ragnarok, but still! He also looks like he could be offering it to someone…. I wonder who it could be.
…Like HIM. So Thanos emerges from a portal and just looks like he is ready to wreak havoc on the Avengers.
Spidey also gets a new shiny suit, and by the looks of it, is trying to stop the circle of doom that Thanos most likely brought to churn out baddies and take Earth.
Thor is also struggling with something circular… though I’m not sure if it is the portal Thanos is using or if it is something related to Asgard.
We also get a VERY quick look at one of Thanos’ henchman, The Black Order. This specifically is Proxima Midnight. In this quick look, we see her throw a spear at a shadowed figure who turns out to be….
CAP! ( I dig the beard) He probably makes quick work of her. Lets get this man a shield.
Next, we have Iron Man or maybe Banner ( due to a Lego set reveal) in the Hulkbuster suit ( could lead into a Black Widow and Hulk reunion mentioned above) landing in Wakanda. If it is Banner in there, How come he isn’t hulking out?
The following happen in rapid succession:
To recap, we have Cap and Black panther fighting in Wakanda, Black widow spearing people ( possibly Proxima) and then Dr. Strange fighting in New York.
Spidey get slammed by Thanos on the alien planet we say earlier. Could this mean that Peter gets to travel through space with Tony ( also seen on the planet) OR does Tony come and save him?
““Fun isn’t something one considers when balancing the universe,” says Thanos. You know what also doesn’t look fun? Getting an infinity stone GOUGED from your head. Clearly the now synthetic Vision doesn’t think so either. Here we have what looks like Loki’s old staff from Avengers piercing his forehead by another member of the Black Order, Corvus Glaive (Terry Notary).
So now Thanos has two out of six Infinity Stones. The Cosmic stone and the stone of power. Interestingly enough, the power stone was in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Who knows, maybe we’ll see them pop up here and there.
“But this… this does put a smile on my face,” Ok, Thanos we get it. have the Infinity gauntlet and you plan on destroying the world with it. But one small problem. YOU ONLY HAVE TWO OF THE STONES! The other four are sage and sound…. Right guys?
We finally a see de-thawed Bucky Barnes ( Sebastian Stan) who looks ready to kick some alien ass.we also get a close up on the Black Panther himself, T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), leading an army in Wakanda. Not sure why four armed aliens are attacking the utopian society…. unless there is an Infinity Stone there….
YIKES!
Here we have Black Panther leading his army in a very 300 like fashion. All I can say is that this battle, whatever it is, is going to be AMAZING!!!
#Squadgoals. Honestly, Thanos should just pack up right now. There is no way they are gonna be this team!
We finally get a frontal shot of Thor, who is still missing his eye due to his battle in Ragnarok. Either way, he looks badass. In the scene he turns and asks “ Who are you people?”
Why, It’s Starlord and the Guardians of the Galaxy that’s who!
Avengers: Infinity War is scheduled to be released in May of 2018
