Beyoncé Drops ‘Homecoming’ Documentary Trailer!

04.8.2019 | By |

For you Beyoncé fans here is the first trailer from “Homecoming,” an intimate documentary offering an unprecedented look at Beyoncé’s historic 2018 Coachella performance that paid homage to America’s historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

Set to premiere on Netflix on April 17, the film is a Beyoncé project. She wrote, directed, and produced it. The trailer teases not just stunning performances, but also a deep dive into the show’s creation, hailed as revolutionary.

Beyoncé shares, “I studied my history, I studied my past, and I put every mistake, all of my triumphs–my 22-year career–into my 2-hour Homecoming performance,” the artist states over footage of rehearsals. Footage shows her rehearsing intensely.

This sentiment is underscored by glimpses of Beyoncé painstakingly guiding her band, dancers, and supporting vocalists – all while facing the unique challenges that arose following the birth of her twins. This duality of a pop powerhouse at work and a dedicated mother lends a raw authenticity to the “Homecoming” narrative.

“Homecoming” signifies a major turn in Beyoncé’s filmmaking pursuits. While primarily known for her visually immersive album accompaniments like “Lemonade”, her first Netflix project steps out of the musical space and spotlights her evolution as a creative force and cultural trendsetter. This shift makes Beyoncé one to watch, likely inspiring more artists to document their transformative journeys into cultural events.
