The First Official Look At The ‘Passengers’ Trailer Starring Chris Pratt, Jennifer Lawrence

09.20.2016 | By |

Finally! Here is the first trailer for the new Chris Pratt, Jennifer Lawrence sci-fi thriller directed by Morten Tyldum (who helmed the fantastic “The Imitation Game”). For a while, not much was known about the plot… until now. The film has a similar vibe to Alfonso Cuarón‘s “Gravity” in terms of style and flair and that movie went on to win 7 Oscar awards, including being nominated for Best Picture. Worth mentioning, Colombian director and son of Gabriel García Márquez, Rodrigo García, also had a movie called “Passengers” starring Hathaway.  Nice to see Cuban actor Andy García making an appearance in the highly anticipated trailer.  Read More

Is The New Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone ‘La La Land’ Trailer A Sequel To ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’?

07.13.2016 | By |

For someone who watches as many movies as I do, it’s hard not to see new trailers and immediately compare them to other films. The new Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone ‘La La Land’ trailer looks like a mish-mosh between Marc Webb’s (500) Days of Summer and a sequel to Glenn Ficarra & John Requa’s Crazy, Stupid, Love. Ryan and Emma co-starred in that movie and played lovers, just like here. Can’t forget director Damien Chazelle. He helmed the best movie of 2014 Whiplash and once again is giving us something to behold. Take a look at the trailer and let me know if it piques your interest. La La Land debuts in theaters this December.

This Week In Movies: ‘The Huntsman,’ ‘Elvis & Nixon,’ ‘A Hologram for the King’

04.19.2016 | By |

We’re in the middle of April and this week in movies offers us some bizarre movie releases. First, we need to talk about this new Tom Hanks movie, A Hologram for the King, which isn’t getting any buzz, no coverage, no interviews with Hanks and no marketing or promotion whatsoever. What Twilight Zone reality are we living in? Never have we ever been privy to a Tom Hanks film that isn’t some event. Just bizarre all around.

Harvey Weinstein finally gives us a look at Hands Of Stone, based on the legendary Panamanian pugilist Roberto Duran and his equally legendary trainer Ray Arcel who changed each other’s lives. Is it going to be the next CREED? I don’t think so, but it has the promise of being a solid movie. Read More

This Week In Movies: ‘Batman v Superman,’ ‘Born To Be Blue’

03.21.2016 | By |

We’re a little more than half-way through March and this week’s movies offer a little somehting for everyone. One which has captivated my attention is Ethan Hawke’s Born To Be Blue, a jazz film about Chet Baker, arguably the most popular trumpeter after Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie. I had met with Hawke last year and he showed me several pics of the production and we discussed favorite albums plus his legacy. Also, we should address the armored bat in the room – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is the most anticipated film of 2016. The reason it is more anticipated than Captain America: Civil War, is the tremendous pressure and risk behind the success of WB and DC’s franchise set-up film. Read More

Watch The New ‘Ben-Hur’ Movie Trailer!

03.16.2016 | By |

Coming to theatres on August 12, 2016, this remake of Ben-Hur has all the defects of whitewashing, but let’s not get into that right now. Will the film work? Will a historical drama about the Roman Empire work in 2016? There are no major stars, apart from Morgan Freeman in a minor supporting role. What are the expectations? Let’s begin by you seeing it.  Read More
