On this week’s episode of the “Highly Relevant Podcast with Jack Rico, two big A-list guests join me this week to discuss television and radio. Rafael Amaya, the star of Telemundo’s “El Señor de los Cielos” and Enrique Santos, the new Chairman and CCO of iHeartLatino. Listen now!
Amaya, who has the top-rated novela at Telemundo and in the country, did something crazy Thursday night… he stepped out of his telenovela, in character, and walked onto USA’s “The Queen of the South” in English. Absolutely nuts. Brilliant idea by that female executive out of NYC to come up with it and make it happen 😉 It’s a crossover move never seen before on television. How? Because no actor has ever left a Spanish language novela and appeared in the English language that same night. You know this sounds like fantasy at this point, right? But it’s true and we’ll look back at this moment when it began a trend. We also chatted about narco-novelas and the twisted love TV viewers have for it right now.
Enrique Santos on his end, left the #1 morning show at Univision Radio in Miami to become an executive/talent of iHeartLatino, a new division of the former Clear Channel Communications. Can you believe there wasn’t a Hispanic division, to begin with? He comes with a massive fanbase and the power to change the Hispanic radio landscape. Tune in and listen for yourself.
