Jessy Terrero To Direct 50 Cent in ‘The Pursuit’

It looks like Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is adding another bullet point to his busy IMDb page. Randall Emmett (of Emmett / Furla Films) officially announced today that he’s re-teaming with his Cheetah Vision partner for a new high-stakes actioner titled The Pursuit.

Taking the helm is director Jessy Terrero (Soul Plane, Gun), who is clearly becoming a favorite for the production duo. Terrero is locked into a brand-new three-picture directing deal with the producers, starting with this film.

The Plot: The story sounds like a classic “odd couple” setup with a gritty twist. A police officer and a criminal find themselves forced to work together to hunt down a fugitive bank robber, mostly because they both have a personal score to settle with him. Of course, it’s not that easy. A determined U.S. Marshal is also in the mix, trying to bring everyone in by the book before the bullets start flying.

Production Notes: The script was penned by Matt Johnson (Into the Blue, Torque). Production is heading to Louisiana (no surprise there given the tax credits) with cameras set to roll on February 15, 2012. If you’re wondering where you’ll be able to see it, Lionsgate is handling the release via their massive 10-picture output deal with Cheetah Vision.

The Emmett / Furla Empire: You have to give it to Randall Emmett and George Furla, they are currently among the most prolific producers in Hollywood. They have nine films in the works this year alone. They are currently juggling some serious A-list talent, with Broken City (Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe) and Frozen Ground (Nicolas Cage and John Cusack) both hitting production this fall.

They also have a massive post-production slate including End of Watch with Jake Gyllenhaal and the Bruce Willis flick Lay the Favorite. With a newly announced $250 million film fund, these guys don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
