My good friend Jim Shearer, host of VH-1’s Top 20 Countdown, emailed me last week and asked if I would be a part of his weekly Breaking Bad podcast called “Yinz Luv” to discuss this past weekend’s episode. I said of course, but none of us were ever thinking that we’d be discussing what I believe to be THE BEST episode in Breaking Bad history. Read More

6 Singers That Should Follow Christina Aguilera’s Footsteps

09.5.2013 | By |

In today’s market Latinos are the No. 1 purchasing consumers and by 2015 they will have the buying power of $1.5 trillion according to a 2012 Nielsen report. In music, artists need to strategize how they will attract this bilingual group, and of course for some it might be easier than others. The following six musicians have branded themselves as American artists, but have a Latin ancestry which makes them the representation of the new generations who speak both Spanish and English. Like Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, and the late Selena these six artists have the power to successfully play both sides – American and Latin – even if they don’t speak Spanish well, or at all. The 12 Must See Movies Of September!

09.4.2013 | By |

September marks the end of summer movies in Hollywood and begins its transition towards the release of award winning films. Note my use of the word transition. Utilizing that word means that September only possesses 2 movies that have any real aspirations at being nominated or winning anything come Oscar time – Salinger for Best Documentary and Prisoners for a few nominations. This month also brings a plethora of documentaries. Almost half of the films on this list are documentaries. The rise in the genre is getting stronger by the year and I feel is becoming our new literature for facts. Ironically, Michael Moore, the best representative of the genre is nowhere to be found. You will find on this list everything from one of James Gandolfini’s final performances on film, The Beatles back on the screen and the mysterious universe of bodybuilding. Without further delay, here are the 12 Must See Movies of September! Read More

This Week In Movies… ‘Riddick,’ ‘Salinger,’ ‘Mission Park’

09.3.2013 | By |

Sixteen movie releases. This is one of the rare weeks where half of the new Hollywood releases are documentaries and my most anticipated viewing is a documentary as well – Salinger. What is it? Perhaps it’s the Labor Day dates that aren’t too kind to studio pockets, perhaps it’s the public demand for more informative films and less escapism. “Why read a book when you can watch the documentary?” Or maybe it’s just a coincidence.
