How Selena Gomez Pushed Jay-Z Off The Billboard Top Spot

08.1.2013 | By |

So let’s get straight to the point… just how did Selena Gomez manage to beat one of the greatest acts in hip-hop and for that matter in music? If you haven’t heard, this week Selena Gomez  bumped Jay-Z’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail” off the top spot on the Billboard 200 outselling H.O.V.A  97,000 copies to 77,000 copies respectively. And just like that defeats hip-hop’s 5-week reign and makes pop music the king. Let’s just call it a combination of extremely faithful fans and smart marketing.

Here’s how it was done: Read More

What An Awesome Trailer! ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’

07.30.2013 | By |

Once a year, a trailer comes along that absorbs you from the first frame to the last. This Week In Movies… ‘The Canyons,’ ‘Europa Report,’ ‘Drift’

07.29.2013 | By |

Unlike the previous two weeks, this particular week of theatrical releases doesn’t really have anything I’d trip over to see. I mean, Smurfs 2 is on the menu, that should tell you what us moviegoers are dealing with here. Perhaps the more interesting of the bunch are Europa Report for its premise, a film directed by Ecuadorian Sebastian Cordero starring Sharlto Copley (District 9) and The Canyons anchored by Lindsay Lohan. The latter seems to be the one to see this week for the pop culture puns and references she begets. Read the rest of the plot lines and see who’s starring in them… something just might catch your eye. Read More
