One Direction Makes Record-breaking Music History!

07.24.2013 | By |

Yesterday, One Direction had much history to celebrate. It was on July 23, 2010 when Simon Cowell banded Zayn, Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall together on the British version of the “X Factor.” And what better way to celebrate the band’s three year anniversary than by breaking the record for Vevo’s most-watched video in a 24-hour period – plus kicking Miley Cyrus’ butt along the way. Watch: Jennifer Lopez talks NUVOtv launch

07.22.2013 | By |

When I first heard that Jennifer Lopez was becoming a TV executive, I must confess, I thought it was just marketing hype. But after a very good upfront presentation and a stream of articles on the programming front, I have to personally congratulate her for really making this new venture real.

As partner and Chief Creative Officer of NUVOtv (bicultural network for US Hispanics), Lopez is in charge of contributing programming to the network, work on strategy and assist in marketing.

I just received a video of Lopez herself talking about the new NUVOtv launch. Watch it above! Read More

This week in movies… The Wolverine, Blue Jasmine, Apt 1303

07.22.2013 | By |

This is my second week writing my “This week in movies…” feature. It is a preview of the films coming out this week with their adjoining trailer and synopsis. I have to say, I’m discovering some interesting finds for you during my research. There are 11 movies being released this week and 7 of them are independent films with limited releases and/or available On Demand for home viewing. From the indie circuit, I must admit, the premises all sound worth watching, such as Drug War from Asian director Johnnie To. It’s the French Connection meets The Wire. Also The Time Being, a mystery surrounding a millionaire and an artist and Frankenstein’s Army, a movie that looks too fun to ignore.  Come back this Thursday where I’ll have my reviews of what I have seen. In the meantime, I rank the films in descending order from least anticipated to my most anticipated watch. Read More
