Monsters vs. Aliens

Yes! Monsters VS. Aliens – I had the chance to see this earlier this week and I must say…It was funny! I knew it would be. Check out the trailer and see for yourselves. (lol)

It stars the talented voices of Reese Witherspoon (Ginormica), Seth Rogen (B.O.B.), Hugh Laurie (Dr. Cockroach Ph. D), Will Arnett (The Missing Link), Keither Sutherland (General W.R. Monger), and many others. If you’re looking for a funny, all age family movie…Monsters VS. Aliens is for you!

It’s about this girl – who’s about to get the perfect life she’s always wanted. On her wedding day – she is hit by a meteorite from outer space…which turns her into a GIANT Monster lady. The government steps in and captures her – while she’s in the government prison…she meets 3 of the coolest monsters ever. Well, while that’s going on…an evil alien named, Gallaxhar decides he wants to attack and take over earth. As a last resort – with the leadership of General W.R. Monger and direct orders from the President of the United States…Ginormica and her 3 special friends must save the earth.

Ding…Ding…Monsters VS. Aliens. Your kids will love it and there’s enough adult humor to make you laugh.
I loved how they make you (me) remember all the classic monsters movies – The Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Blob, and so on. You’ll see!

I give Monsters VS. Aliens…4 out of 5 Popcorns

Push

WOOWWWWW…what do I say about PUSH?! It SUCKED! SOOOOOO…bad! I thought this movie was going to be “a little” cool – WRONG! The movie was total garbage…people, PLEASE don’t waste your money on the flick…luckily, I saw it for free. Lots of things went wrong…as soon as it started…the surround sound wasn’t working, then the film wasn’t centered right, then these people next to us were speaking some language I couldn’t understand…all the way through the movie, then…the movie just sucked!

It’s pretty much about this group of people – through experiment after experiment – get telekinetic and clairvoyant powers. There’s good guys and there’s bad guys. The soundtrack sucks – the acting isn’t all that great – there’s this girl (Camilla Belle) in the movie…that just bugged me. (I liked her better in 10,000 B.C.)

There IS one thing good about this movie I DID like…it’s Dakota Fanning. She is dope in the movie…she just rocks! Heck, I only saw it because of her.

So people, if your NOT a Dakota fan…don’t waste your $$.

I give Push…1 out of 5 Popcorns! (1 for Dakota)

P.S. Anyone know how I can get 2 hours of my life back?! (lol)

Have a cold week! (lol)

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

Ohh Yeahh….I have been waiting for this one…UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS…it’s actually the prequel to the other two films, Underworld (2003) and Underworld: Evolution (2006). If you are like a few of my friends…living under a few rocks…and haven’t seen the others….then your just fine…start here and rent the others!! (lol)

The movie’s about the century-old feud between the vampires and werewolves. One day the king vampire (Viktor) finds out that one of his werewolves (slaves) gives birth to a baby…but this baby is ½ werewolf and ½ human. Instead of killing it – he decides to make it his “SUPER†slave and uses him for whatever. Well…you can say that some serious drama goes down and Lucian (super baby lol) decides to rebel and rise up against the vampires. (It’s dope how it goes down!)

This movie is hella dope – if you liked the other 2 movies – you’ll love this one!! If you haven’t SEEN the others…you’ll love this one! (lol) Where Rise of the Lycans ends…Underworld starts.

Niceeeeeeee…

The Spirit

Well…well…well…what can I say about Frank Miller’s, The Spirit? If you don’t know…this is the same guy who brought you…SIN CITY…and my favorite…300.
SOOO…I was definitely setting my standards high. Well people…it was CRAP!! As in Great Dane crap!! It’s about this cop – – who gets murdered in the line of duty – – he is then brought back to life…by an experimental drug (Yeah, I know)…once realizing his super abilities – he decides to fight crime. (Wack!)

It’s got a HOT cast – Miss Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johansson are in the movie…if it wasn’t for them…I would’ve gotten up and left the theater. I was sooo confused…and bored…not going to lie…it didn’t make any sense to me. (lol) Mr. Samuel L. Jackson stars in it as well…and, I’m not going to lie. The more I watch his movies – – the more he annoys me. I don’t know what it is. I just know its super wack…with a capital S.

The movie is filmed great though – it did have that Sin City / 300 feel to it…but that’s about it. Maybe that’s why it only made 4 million at the box office opening weekend.

The Tale of Despereaux

Awww…there’s nothing cuter than a little, big eared mouse with a sword. The Tale of Despereaux stars a little mouse named, Despereaux.

At an early age – his family and friends noticed he wasn’t your average mouse. He doesn’t cringe to the site of knives. He doesn’t fear cats. He laughs at the of mouse traps. He’s just one COOL mouse. The story starts in a kingdom called, Dor…and in this kingdom…they love soup…yes, I said soup. SOUP DAY that is – it’s a day of celebration!

Well, something bad happens…an accident (not going to tell you) where the king…broken hearted…decides to banish soup and KILL at rats. I know, I know – your saying to yourself, “Mike – what the heck does rats have to do with it?” – Well, go see the movie and you’ll find out. (lol)

This movie teaches you a lot of lessons – It has like 4 little stories all wrapped in 1 movie. This happens to be great family, holiday movie. There’s comedy, drama, action and adventure.

Just remember…size DOESN’T matter if you put your mind to it!

Seven Pounds

WOWWWWWW…Seven Pounds starring Will Smith…Mrs. HOT Rosario Dawson, Cool dudes Woody Harrelson, Barry Pepper, and Michael Ealy.

I’m not going to lie – this movie rocked! I knew it was going to be good – but not THAT good. It’s about an IRS guy (Will Smith) who decides to go on this crazy, detailed plan of his. People…once everything happens – he will have changed the lives of 7 strangers.

OK…no more…that’s right…I’m not going to ruin this one for you.  It’s that good! Heck…if you MUST know…check out the trailer. J All I am saying is – GO SEE THIS MOVIE. You laugh and you cry…I completely lost it. At one point I was thinking to myself, “Mike – this is going to get a 4 ½ popcorn rating…but…the last 30 minutes…turned it into a 5!!

I give Seven Pounds…5 out of 5 Popcorns! And, DON’T text while driving! (You’ll see)

Nothing Like the Holidays (Movie Review)

12.12.2008 | By |

A holiday movie for the season, Nothing Like the Holidays stars a huge Latino cast, including Freddy Rodríguez, Luis Guzmán, Jay Hernández, Elizabeth Peña, John Leguizamo, and more. It’s about a Puerto Rican family living in the cold, windy city of Chicago—specifically Humboldt Park.

What’s it about, you may ask? Well, mix one crazy family, one fish-out-of-water outsider, a great soundtrack, and you get a pretty damn funny movie. Okay, okay, here’s the breakdown:

  • One son returns from Iraq, uncertain about what he wants to do with his life.
  • Another son is married to a non-Latina wife who happens to be the primary breadwinner.
  • The sister, whom the family believes is a huge Hollywood actress (even if the reality is a little different).
  • The eccentric cousin who is pretty much like another brother—he’s just nuts!
  • The “almost-adopted” son, living the street life while dealing with his own drama.
  • The dad, who runs a cool little store on the corner but is hiding a secret.
  • And last but not least, the mom, who suspects that “secret” is infidelity.

Does that make sense? (Lol) The movie is funny, entertaining, and features a cast I absolutely loved.

Four Christmases

It’s still the #1 movie at the box office. What movie am I talking about you may ask?? Four Christmases, starring Vince Vaughn and “Sexy Cute” Reese Witherspoon. It has a great cast such as Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, John Voight, Tim McGraw, Jon Favreau, and more!

The movie starts off with a couple who are totally in love, but soon find out  that they REALLY don’t KNOW each other. The Christmas holidays roll around…instead of hanging with their family, they decide to lie…once again…to plan a trip to Fiji…but the weather messes everything up so they are forced to visit their 4 seperate families…and these families are nuts.

If you happen to “family hop” during the holidays – you’ll definately can relate. (lol)

You sure laugh a lot and during these hard times – we all could use it.

Twilight

Friday night + the release of TWILIGHT = WACK! Supa Dupa WACK!
People…I was soooo pumped to check out this movie. Vampire movies rock….NOT this one. The crazy thing is – I know people who actually got the chance to see an early screening. Everyone said, “oh…Mike, your going to love it.”

NOT!

Once the movie started…I was like, “Ok…it’s going to get better…ok…not there…ok….now? Hell naww!!” It’s basically about this girl…who lives with her mom in Phoenix, AZ. She is then forced to live with her dad…who lives in this small town in Washington. She’s the new kid in school…pretty much keeps to herself…but then catches the eye of this guy. His name is Edward. Well, to make a long story short…he happens to be a vampire. Yeah, I said it…a vampire. His special skill? He can run fast! Lol Yeah…wack!

It’s basically a vampire…Romeo and Juliet love story. If your 12 years old…and a chick, I’m sure you’ll like this movie. Me…not a chance. It never got going in my opinion…it stayed flat the whole time. NO BLOOD, NO GUTS, NO COOL VAMPIRE FIGHT SCENES…NO NOTHING! People, don’t believe the hype…read the book instead. I hear that’s better anyhow.

So, this weekend…save your money…and go see BOLT.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa… what a funny, funny movie. I actually enjoyed it more than the first one. Just in case you HAVEN’T seen the 1st one…it starts off where the last ended…still stranded on Madagascar! Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippo have FINALLY decided to leave…with help of the penguins of course. (who are even more funny…and my favorite)

A HUGE slingshot shoots them in the air…and their off! BUT…trouble hits (not going to tell you how)…and they crash land in Africa. While there…they start meeting their own kind…but…guess what? Alex the Lion meets his PARENTS. He pretty much has to go through some tests to actual join the pride. What he goes through…is funny as hell. You laugh a lot through out the movie. The penguins are great!

Parents…if your looking for a great family movie – take the kiddos! You won’t be disappointed.
