This Week In Movies: ‘John Coltrane,’ ‘Norman,’ ‘The Lost City Of Z’

04.11.2017 | By |

We’re in the middle of April, spring has sprung and so are good quality movies… well at least the independent fare. The best films to see this week are of the indie kind such as two documentaries, Chasing Trane: The John Coltrane Documentary and Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent which promise great insights into their respective crafts – jazz and the culinary arts. Also, Richard Gere returns to the big screen offering some more non-Richard Gere films with Norman. He’s been experimenting with his character selections for some time now and it’s hit and miss, but you can’t fault him for trying. This Week In Movies: ‘Colossal,’ ‘The Void,’ ‘Aftermath,’ ‘Truman’

04.3.2017 | By |

We begin April with some very popular and auteur directors releasing films this week. First, Spaniard director Nacho Vigalondo gets together with a solid cast that includes Anne Hathaway in what is a crazy sci-fi/comedy called Colossal. Also, former Spider-Man director Marc Webb tries to tug at the heart with his new film Gifted and Romanian helmer Cristian Mungiu who made the indelible “4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days” gives us Graduation that delves into the role parents play today with their grown children. And how can we forget Arnold? He returns to the screen in Aftermath, written by a Latino writer named Javier Gullón. You definitely have a lot to look for this weekend. This Week In Movies: ‘Ghost In The Shell,’ ‘The Boss Baby’

03.27.2017 | By |

It is a very feeble week for movies. There are only five films releasing this week. That is a head-scratcher and perhaps one of the few times that five films come out in a single week. Nevertheless, Scarlett Johansson’s Ghost in the Shell is the biggest release this weekend. It has the star power, the budget and the distribution release. It comes with some controversy though (whitewashing is mentioned), but it does look fun! Enjoy the trailers and listen to our podcast for our in-depth reviews of this week’s releases and more! The New ‘Justice League’ Trailer Is Here!

03.25.2017 | By |

https://vimeo.com/210046417?utm_source=email&utm_medium=vimeo-cliptranscode-201504&utm_campaign=29220

The second trailer for Warner Bros. and DC’s Justice League trailer is here and is beginning to become more credible with each footage that is released. Still no sign of Superman which I’m assuming will be the BIG reveal within the movie. Though Amy Adam’s Lois Lane does make a quick cameo. What do you guys think so far of the trailer? Will you go see it or are you done with DC and their disappointments? Leave comments below.

It’s the middle of March and so far, 2017 has offered some terrific fare such as Get Out and Logan. But this week, the quality isn’t as robust as previous weeks. The stellar films to see this week are The Belko Experiment, BlueBeard and Betting Zero.
