08.10.2013 | By |

It’s tough to sometimes find a good DVD movie to watch at home with your wife, kids or just by yourself, there is just too many films to select from. That’s why it is ideal to have the actors and directors themselves, from the movies you watch them in, recommend what you should be seeing in the comfort of your own home. One of the most literate when it comes to cinema, in particular, the horror and thriller genre, is Guillermo del Toro. He along with his protegé  provide some excellent classics that should create some great movie memories.

Watch: ‘Enough Said’ Trailer starring James Gandolfini

08.6.2013 | By |

It’s incredible to think James Gandolfini has passed away. I still can’t believe it. Which is why I’m very thrilled to see the first trailer in one of his final performances in Nicole Holofcener‘s Enough Said, which debuts next month at Toronto before Fox Searchlight gives it a September 20 release.

Gandolfini stars opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Toni Collette, and Catherine Keener in the comedy about a divorced woman who decides to pursue the man she’s interested in and learns he’s her new friend’s ex-husband. The whole plot seems hilarious and we get to see a different side to Gandolfini we don’t see often – the tender teddy bear.

Gandolfini’s last movie will be Animal Rescue, a crime-drama centered around a lost pit bull, a wannabe scam artist, and a killing. That film will be released next year.

We’re The Millers: 5 Questions With Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis

08.6.2013 | By |

*Updated December 2025

Comedies have fared slightly okay in 2013 with This Is the End and The World’s End, arguably, being the best halfway through the year. Director Rawson Marshall Thurber (Dodgeball) gives us We’re the Millers, a typical Hollywood comedy with enough R rated laughs to allow a recommendation.

08.5.2013 | By |

Selena Gomez is part of a new featurette from the action ride film ‘Getaway‘ starring Ethan Hawke where she discusses how to “Destroy a Custom Shelby”. She looks laid back and even a little chunky around the face as she talks about her experience in the car from the movie.

Check it out and tell us what you thought of Selena and the video! Read More

Peliculeando – ‘2 Guns,’ ‘Smurfs 2,’ ‘The Canyons’

08.2.2013 | By |

Back in January 13th of 2008, I began the first ever Spanish movie review radio segment with Luis Jimenez, one of the premiere morning personalities in radio, regardless of language. It’s been 5 years and we’re still kicking it strong better than ever. The segment airs every Friday on his morning program “The Luis Jimenez Show” which airs on the top rated – X 96.3FM – on Univision Radio. I review (in Spanglish for the most part) the latest theatrical releases along with the new DVD/Blurays and what’s On Demand at home. Read More

Update: Nicholas Sparks has just added a new city and date for the book signing of his newest literary release, “The Longest Ride”. It’ll be on September 30th in Miami, FL, at Books & Books.

When one thinks of romance in the movies, it’s hard not to think of Nicholas Sparks being behind one of them. The American novelist, screenwriter and producer has put out so many hits that he’s now decided to go… español. Spanish readers are about to get a jolt of what it feels like to read a new book of his in Spanish during its premiere release. Read More

What An Awesome Trailer! ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’

07.30.2013 | By |

Once a year, a trailer comes along that absorbs you from the first frame to the last. Whether it was its cinematography, color palette, CGI or story line, or maybe a fusion of all the aforementioned, you have just witnessed something special. Comic actor, now turned director, Ben Stiller releases The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and its first trailer is to be sensorially engulfed. I almost feel like I saw an art exhibition, not a trailer. Then again… isn’t film art? Read More

This Week In Movies… ‘The Canyons,’ ‘Europa Report,’ ‘Drift’

07.29.2013 | By |

Unlike the previous two weeks, this particular week of theatrical releases doesn’t really have anything I’d trip over to see. I mean, Smurfs 2 is on the menu, that should tell you what us moviegoers are dealing with here. Perhaps the more interesting of the bunch are Europa Report for its premise, a film directed by Ecuadorian Sebastian Cordero starring Sharlto Copley (District 9) and The Canyons anchored by Lindsay Lohan. The latter seems to be the one to see this week for the pop culture puns and references she begets. Read the rest of the plot lines and see who’s starring in them… something just might catch your eye. Read More
