Peter Sarsgaard explains why he almost said no to Woody Allen’s ‘Blue Jasmine’

07.25.2013 | By |

It is rare to get anything revealing or honest out of an actor at a junket interview. Actually, it’s almost impossible. I’ve had my shares though where I have broken through. My interview with Peter Sarsgaard for Blue Jasmine was one of those interviews filled where he just opened up without a care in the world. But perhaps the answer that most stands out from this interview is his sincere and emotional confession of almost having to turn down the role Woody Allen offered him for Blue Jasmine.

Watch the interview and listen to Sarsgaard explain why he almost said no to Woody. Read More

This week in movies… The Wolverine, Blue Jasmine, Apt 1303

07.22.2013 | By |

This is my second week writing my “This week in movies…” feature. It is a preview of the films coming out this week with their adjoining trailer and synopsis. I have to say, I’m discovering some interesting finds for you during my research. There are 11 movies being released this week and 7 of them are independent films with limited releases and/or available On Demand for home viewing. From the indie circuit, I must admit, the premises all sound worth watching, such as Drug War from Asian director Johnnie To. It’s the French Connection meets The Wire. Also The Time Being, a mystery surrounding a millionaire and an artist and Frankenstein’s Army, a movie that looks too fun to ignore.  Come back this Thursday where I’ll have my reviews of what I have seen. In the meantime, I rank the films in descending order from least anticipated to my most anticipated watch. Read More
