Edgar Ramirez Will Become A Priest In New Movie

A Latino actor will soon need a priestly robe to go with his brand-new role.

 

According to Deadline.com Screen Gems has set Edgar Ramirez to star in their next film, “Beware The Night.” This paranormal thriller directed by Scott Derrickson tells the story of a New York cop investigating a crime. Ramirez will play a renegade priest who teams up with the cop after convincing him the case involves demon possessions, exorcisms, and werewolves. Also starring in the film will be Eric Bana as the cop and Olivia Munn as his wife.  Read More

Michael Peña to star on Fox's 'The List'

The Latino actor who is about star in the movie about Cesar Chavez from director Diego Luna, Michael Peña, is set as the lead in The List, Fox‘s drama pilot from director Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland).

The premise has Peña at the nucleus of the story: Deputy U.S. Marshal Soto (Peña) who, when members of the Federal Witness Security Program start getting killed, leads the hunt for the person who stole “the list” – a file with the identities of every member of the program.

Peña’s character is being described as ruggedly attractive, oddly charismatic man, a notoriously quirky maverick who frequently gets into trouble with the bureaucracy. Read More

Pablo Escobar TV series to be done by Netflix

Netflix is about to become a force to be reckoned with! According to Deadline.com, the US home-movie distribution business is about to develop an original 13 episode series called ‘Narcos‘, about the life and times of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.

Brazilian-born Jose Padilha (Elite Squad) will be directing the series based on his own idea of Escobar to debut in 2014 on Netflix which has 2.7 million subscribers. Read More

Catalina Sandino Moreno joins FX's 'The Bridge'

Best Actress Oscar nominee, Catalina Sandino Moreno, a Colombian actress who has also been part of the Twilight Saga franchise, will now become part of FX’s new TV show The Bridge. 

Moreno, will play Oscar nominee Demián Bichir’s second wife who is at home to tend to the kids while he works long hours.

The Bridge centers on two detectives from the U.S. and Mexico — El Paso Police Homicide Detective Sonya North (Diane Kruger) and Marco Ruiz (Demián Bichir) — who must work together to hunt down a serial killer operating on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.

After Moreno was nominated for Best Actress for the Colombian indie drama Maria Full Of Grace for which she won an Independent Spirit Award, she worked in various other fims: Paris, je t’aime, Fast Food Nation, The Hottest State, Love in the Time of Cholera, Che: Part 1 & 2, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, For Greater Glory.

She’s slated to appear as ‘Barbara’ in a new Michael Cera film called Magic, Magic from Chilean director Sebastián Silva (The Maid). The plot takes place in Chile, where a vacationing young woman begins to mentally unravel; meanwhile, her friends ignore her claim until it’s too late.

This psychological thriller is rumored to be in Sundance 2013.

Mexican actor Diego Boneta joins thriller 'In the Blood'

According to Deadline.com, Mexican actor Diego Boneta, a singer/actor back in Mexico then turned Hollywood crossover actor in “Rock of Ages,” will join the cast of John Stockwell’s new film “In the Blood”

Stockwell, for those of you who are unfamiliar with his work, LOVES working with Hispanic actors. To prove it, his resume highlights Hispanics in his movies such as: Crazy/Beautiful (Jay Hernandez), Blue Crush (Michelle Rodriguez), Into the Blue (Jessica Alba), Cat Run (Paz Vega), Dark Tide (Olivier Martinez) and now In the Blood with Diego Boneta. 

“In The Blood” is about a woman who tries to track down her husband after he is kidnapped on their South American honeymoon. Haywire star and former American Gladiators Gina Carano plays Ava the wife. Boneta will play Manny, a local who ends up joining Ava on her search.

"Charlie Brown: The Movie" to be released Nov 15, 2015

It was just a matter of time before Hollywood made Charlie Brown into a film franchise. It is now officially happening. According to Deadline.com, Twentieth Century Fox Animation and Ice Age makers Blue Sky Studios will release PEANUTS the film on November 25, 2015. That date commemorates the 65th anniversary of the comic strip, and the 50th anniversary of the TV special A Charlie Brown Christmas.

For now, all that is being reported is that it will be an animation and not a live-action film like The Flintstones were. At some point, the discussion will be about who the kid voices will be – will they be unknowns or stars like Elle Fanning or Joel Courtney.

The screenplay will be written by Craig Schulz and Bryan Schulz son and grandson of Charles Schulz.

Peanuts is read daily by 355 million people in 75 countries, and has previously been adapted into TV episodes and specials.

Demían Bichir, Jude Law to star in 'Don Hemingway'

Recently seen in Oliver Stone’s ‘Savages,’ Mexican actor and Oscar nominee, Demián Bichir, will play a crime boss in black comedy called “Dom Hemingway”. Richard Shepard will direct Bichir, Jude Law, Richard E. Grant, Emilia Clarke, Jumyan Hunter, Madalina Ghenea who will be making up the cast. 

Law plays Dom Hemingway, a larger-than-life safecracker who’s back on the streets of London after twelve years in prison and eager to collect for keeping his mouth shut. Things take a turn when he sets off to visit Bichir’s capo in the south of France. 

Lionsgate will be the US studio distributing the film. Shooting starts Oct. 15 in the south of France. Bichir will next be seen in Robert Rodriguez’ “Machete Kills” and Paul Feig’s “The Heat”

Penélope Cruz, Almodóvar reteam in 'Standby Lovers'!

Penélope Cruz is back with Pedro Almodóvar to star in the Spanish film “Standby Lovers.” No word yet on who’ll she be playing, but what we do know is that film is a comedy about an affair on an airplane. Sounds funny already!

She’ll be joining a very good cast of Spanish actors: Lola Duenas (“Volver”), Cecilia Roth (“All About My Mother”), Paz Vega (“Talk To Her”) and Javier Camara (“Talk To Her”) plus newcomers, Carlos Areces, Raul Arevalo and Jose Maria Yazpik.

After she films “Standby Lovers” later this summer, she’ll officially join Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor”, a very awaited film with an elite cast composed of: Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz and Cruz’s husband Javier Bardem. No official word yet on her role, but she might be playing the part of Laura, the counselor’s fiancé. This film will mark the second time she works with her Bardem after the very lauded Vicky Cristina Barcelona from Woody Allen. She won her first Oscar Award for her performance with him. She was hilarious in the movie.

“The Counselor” is written by Cormac McCarthy and centers on the titular character who tries to make some quick money through a drug deal, with things going terribly wrong in the process.
