My ‘Dora and The Lost City of Gold’ tweet went viral last night. If you were watching the Kids’ Choice Awards this past weekend, you saw 17-year-old Isabela Moner razzle the stage as she watched the premiere of the first trailer from her new film Dora and The Lost City of Gold from Paramount Pictures. It thrilled so many kids to see a character many had been invested in since it debuted on the Nickelodeon channel 19 years ago, finally get a live-action adaptation from a major film studio it deserved. Eugenio Derbez is at again. His new film which he is producing and starring in with co-stars Anna Faris and Eva Longoria is a remake of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s “Overboard” from 1987. The movie wasn’t that good, but it did have some occasional laughs along with some lovable performances from Hawn and her beau. Can this quasi-Latino ensemble create something better? Read More

How To Be A Latin Lover is how we begin the week’s film releases. For the love of a god, any god, I hope this comedy doesn’t regress Latino culture for 30 years. To be frank, I can’t bring myself to see it. You guys let me know how it is. In other releases, Tom Hanks and Emma Watson engage us in a black mirror story about technology and social media and humanity in The Circle and Rami Malek leaves his Mr. Robot persona to give us Buster’s Mal Heart, a quirky thriller that is sure to make you see Malek with different eyes. Hollywood woke up early this week to the story that Eugenio Derbez’s dramedy ‘Instructions Not Included‘ cracked the top 5 movies at the box office this Labor Day weekend. It opened on just 347 screens, and earned $21,614 per theater, more than any other film this weekend!
