With the upcoming release of the horror film “The Conjuring,” I decided to make a list of the top 5 bloodiest movies in the history of cinema. Guillermo del Toro releases Mexican debut film ‘Cronos’

Guillermo del Toro releases Mexican debut film 'Cronos'

I have been waiting years to see CRONOS, Guillermo Del Toro’s debut horror mexican bilingual film, which gave us the first indication of what he had in store for all of us back in 1993. Finally, the DVD and bluray edition are finally here, courtesy of Criterion, and also available for all to see on Netflix Streaming, which is where I’m going to see it today. FEAR.net scored an exclusive interview with Guillermo Del Toro about the buray edition which you can read in it’s entirety here.

Cronos is about an alchemist who in 1535 builds an extraordinary mechanism encapsulated into a small golden device. The invention, designed to convey eternal life to its owner, survives its maker until 1997, when it shows up with an antiques dealer. Fascinated with the strange device, Gris (Luppi) doesn’t note that there’s more than one person looking for it. The promise of eternal life has become an obsession for old and sick Mr. De la Guardia (Brook). He and his nephew (Ron Perlman) will do anything to get the Chronos Invention.

George Romero Deconstructs Zombie Films

George Romero Deconstructs Zombie Films

Meeting George A. Romero was among one of my many highlights in this profession. As a fan of the zombie and horror genres, I sat down with the 6’4 man who is arguably the creator of the zombie films.

In the interview you are about to see, Romero opens up about the origins of his cultural roots (Romero was born in New York City to a Cuban-American father and a Lithuanian-American mother), the things he likes and dislikes of the ‘deadheads’, and what his favorite zombie films are. You’d be surprised to hear it’s not one of his own…

Kick back relax and enjoy 5 minutes with Mr. George A. Romero.

Note: There are Spanish subtitles for those Spanish speaking fans of Romero

His new movie ‘Survival of the Dead‘ takes place in a desperate, nightmarish world where the dead walk the earth, relentlessly attacking the living. It is the story of Plum Island – a beautiful refuge whose isolation allows two powerful families to maintain a semblance of order in the wake of the zombie apocalypse. But as the inhabitants slowly die off, the two clans become sharply divided: The O’Flynns believe that the undead must be destroyed without exception, while the Muldoons insist that afflicted loved ones be kept “alive” until a cure is found. Into this situation wander a small group of National Guard soldiers who, after robbing the protagonists of the previous film, have decided to strike out on their own in an effort to survive.

‘SAW 5’ – Scare yourself with these 3 scenes!

'SAW 5' - Scare yourself with these 3 scenes!

Boy are you in for a treat! Lionsgate films just gave us these 3 clips of the 5th installment of SAW.

These films are never going to win any awards, but the appeal to the SAW franchise films are an anomalie to me. Who cares, though. Around Halloween, I just need a scare in my walk and the SAW films do a hell of a job in doing that.

Jigsaw and his apprentice Amanda are dead. Now, upon the news of Detective Kerry’s murder, two seasoned FBI profilers, Agent Strahm and Agent Perez, arrive in the terrified community to assist the veteran Detective Hoffman in sifting through Jigsaw’s latest grizzly remains and piecing together the puzzle. However, when SWAT Commander Rigg is abducted and thrust into a game, the last officer untouched by Jigsaw has but ninety minutes to overcome a series of demented traps and save an old friend or face the deadly consequences.
