02.19.2014 | By |

I am not a late-night television kind of gal. I occasionally watch reruns of “Friends,” but last night Facebook persuaded me to do otherwise, so I tuned in to Jimmy Fallon’s debut on “The Tonight Show.” Read More

Journalism is all about getting the full story, but what happens when this practice pushes the boundaries to the point of insensitivity?

Complete 2012 Golden Globes nominations

Complete 2012 Golden Globes nominations

“The Artist,” Weinstein Co.’s silent, black-and-white film about an actor who deals with the transition to talkies, was nominated for six Golden Globe awards, but in the Comedy or Musical category.

This selection seems erroneous since every other organization including the BFCA included it under it’s Best Picture categories. Did we miss something? Are you really telling us that ‘The Artist’ is competing with Bridesmaids?? Something seems terribly out of whack here.

Nevertheless, go ahead and immerse yourself in what will be a very interesting night hosted by noneother than Ricky Gervais.

'Mun2' to begin Friday night movie series

Mun2 is setting the stage for a new Friday night movie showcase.

The NBC Universal-owned cable network aimed at bicultural U.S. Latinos will bow “Have You Cine” on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) with drama Harsh Times, starring Christian Bale and Eva Longoria. Mun2 will flank the linear offering with online interviews with actors and movie makers via holamun2.com/cine.

In addition to the weekly Friday night movie showcase, the network will continue offering the exclusive, “Have You Cine Chronicles,” a weekly short-form vignette covering the biggest movies out in theaters. The capsules will premiere as part of the network’s entertainment show, The mun2 Shuffle and will run throughout the programming day within mun2’s music blocks.

“Mun2 has been committed to movies for the past few years, bringing our audience exclusive interviews with artists ranging from Hugh Jackman to Gael Garcia Bernal,” said Flavio Morales, senior vice president programming and production for mun2. “The Have You Cine‘ franchise has evolved, as do the needs of our audience, and we’re excited to not only offer them this fresh, new movie line-up, but also bring our viewers closer to their favorite stars via holamun2.com.”

The rest of the Have You Cine Friday-night lineup this month: Feb. 12, Talento de Barrio, starring Daddy Yankee;

Feb. 19, Chasing Papi, starring Sofia Vergara and Roselyn Sanchez;  and Feb. 26, Fast Lane, starring Melina Lizette and Kenyetta Lethridge.

There’s a ‘Chipmunk’ sequel??

02.11.2009 | By |

There's a 'Chipmunk' sequel??

Alvin, Simon, Theodore and … Chuck?

Zachary Levi, star of the NBC action comedy series “Chuck,” has been cast opposite the computer-generated singing rodents of “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.”

Betty Thomas is directing the follow-up to Fox 2000 and Regency’s 2007 hit “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” which grossed $217 million in North America. Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and Janice Karman are producing, Karen Rosenfelt is executive producing, and Erin Siminoff is overseeing for Fox 2000.

Levi will play the cousin of Jason Lee’s character and gets tangled up with the tiny animated threesome. Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney again will provide the chipmunks’ voices.

Also new to the franchise will be the Chipmunks’ rivals, the Chipettes — Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor — who were introduced in the 1980s animated TV series.

Levi, repped by Endeavor and Hyler Management, also has appeared in “Big Momma’s House 2” and “Shades of Ray.”

Salma Hayek returns to primetime TV

Salma Hayek returns to primetime TV

There’s nothing but love between Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek, who recently shot a five episode arc on “30 Rock” where the 42-year-old beauty will be playing Jack Donaghy’s love interest.

“She was literally the most fabulous woman that I’ve ever worked with,” Baldwin, 50, told People Magazine.
Ditto, according to Hayek. “We had such a great time!” she said at the CNN Heroes event on Saturday, “I love Alec to death. He energizes me … because he’s so talented. He really, truly inspires me.”
“This is the gift that Alec gave me,” she said of the wrap, “just for being his girlfriend for five episodes. I feel like he’s coming with me tonight!”
Check out some of the pics of her Salma (sans daughter) caught idling by in Manhattan.
