‘Highly Relevant Podcast’ Ep. 9 – Should Tom Cruise Still Be Making Action Films?, ‘Queen Sugar,’ Broadway’s ‘Holiday Inn’

10.21.2016 | By |

On this ninth episode, I talk about Tom Cruise’s new movie ‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back’ with my good friend Mike Sargeant as we tackle Tom’s career, his longevity and our opinions on why he doesn’t seem to want to collaborate with another A-List actor (3:20). We also review Broadway’s new family feel-good musical Holiday Inn (24:46) as well as take a look at Ava DuVernay’s Queen Sugar (21:34), and I ask a New Yorker what he’s seeing, listening and downloading (27:43), plus, we recap the most important pop culture news you might have missed this week. Podcast: The State of Latin Music, Fede Alvarez on Horror Movies, Jim Shearer on the MTV VMA’s

08.26.2016 | By |

I’m 3 weeks into doing the Highly Relevant podcast and it’s been a wondrous experience. I LOVE pop culture, but I detest the idea of having it be limited by a single language or culture. I want to talk about both sides of who I am – American and Latino. By tapping both sides, I get to discuss subjects that only enrich the conversations I’m having. There’s a global, international vibe to the dialogues I conduct and this third episode is a nice example of it. Read More

A Candid Interview With Nick Lachey On Ep.2 Of The ‘Highly Relevant’ Podcast

08.20.2016 | By |

I’m pretty proud of having produced the second episode of ‘Highly Relevant’ podcast all by myself (if you guys want to know bad enough how I did, I’ll write about it here one of these days). This week, I had the wonderful pleasure of interviewing Nick Lachey. He is someone whose work I not only admired with 98 Degrees and as a solo artist, but someone I had the distinct delight in working with at VH1’s Big Morning Buzz last year. You can listen beginning at (1:13). The three things that stood out the most from the interview were the 98 Degrees album he’s most proud of, the full story on how their biggest hit “The Hardest Thing” almost never got recorded and a Whoopi Goldberg quote he recited to me that will change anyone’s life.  Read More

Jay-Z’s New TIDAL Promo Is Mindblowing

03.30.2015 | By |

This story is how legends begin. There was a supposed rumor that came out around February of this year that Jay-Z gathered 20 of the greatest music artists of our time in one room to discuss the birth of a new product that will revolutionize the entire music industry. The music streaming service, TIDAL, is most likely what it is and the video above proves that rumors sometimes are true. Ready to get your mind blown…?

New *NSYNC Album Drops Without Band Having A Clue!

07.31.2014 | By |

Ever since Justin Timberlake reunited with *NSYNC at the MTV VMA’s last year, the reality of an actual reunion seeped into the collective conscious of fans and music pundits all around. Many have been anxiously waiting for a “surprise” news report to surface saying that the band came back together, and today, something that has all the traits of a “surprise” arrived, but alas, it is as fraudulent as BuzzFeed’s Benny Johnson.
