‘Star Trek 2’ to be released in IMAX 3D

Paramount Pictures today announced that the sequel to J.J. Abrams’ 2009 blockbuster Star Trek, will be released in the immersive IMAX 3D format on May 17, 2013. The film represents the second feature in the ground-breaking franchise to be released in IMAX following Star Trek, which grossed more than $375 million at the worldwide box office.

Following on the heels of Paramount Pictures’ and Bad Robot’s 2011 hit, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, the filmmakers have once again taken full advantage of the IMAX® camera as well as the clarity and scope that The IMAX Experience® provides in order to transport fans into this 23rd century world. Several key sections of the film that feature big action set pieces have been captured with IMAX cameras, which has become an integral tool for visionary filmmakers to tell their amazing stories.

Exclusively in IMAX, sequences shot with the extremely high-resolution cameras will expand to fill the entire screen and further immerse the audience in the vast dimension and adventure of this highly-anticipated follow-up. Directed by J.J. Abrams and written by Damon Lindelof (Prometheus), Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers, Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek) the sequel follows another chapter of the USS Enterprise crew’s exploration into the unknown. Returning to their posts on the Enterprise are Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, and Bruce Greenwood. They are joined by new cast members Peter Weller and Alice Eve.

“We were so thrilled with the creative results of shooting IMAX for Mission: Impossible that we jumped at the chance to use the format for Star Trek. ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’: New Australian trailer!

A movie trailer can often make or destroy a film, especially a blockbuster film. It all depends on which part of the story the studio decides to focus on. In the case of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, Columbia Pictures focused on telling the origins of Spider-Man and his search for his abandonment by his parents to American audiences. But that’s not the case in Australia where their new trailer for the arachnid hero is much more entertaining, more balanced with action and humor and less oriented to Spidey’s origins.

To be frank, this is the best preview of the film we’ve seen, and if American audiences had seen this first, we would be discussing how tough the competition would be against “The Avengers“. The American versions of the Spidey trailers are dark in tone, dramatic, and do not have the trademark humor with which we grew up reading in the Marvel comics and Saturday morning cartoons.

The Australian international trailer gives us some new scenes we can sink our teeth into such as The Lizard dialogue, and interactions with Parker and Gwen Stacy.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” opens on July 3 in the United States.

‘Anchorman 2’ – First Teaser Trailer!

Director Adam McKay released the first teaser trailer of ‘Anchorman 2 ’ or ‘Anchorman: The Legend Continues’ last Wednesday in theaters with ‘The Dictator’, it is set to open in 2013.

This is something we’ve all been waiting for, since Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) made the big announcement about the sequel on Conan.

The plot possibly will have something to do with a diverse 24- hour news broadcast, as that’s how the last one closed off. We can be sure that it will be filled with hilarious and cruel one- liners like the ones delivered in ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’. Check out the trailer!

‘Think Like a Man’ keeps the #1 spot!

‘Think Like a Man’ once more took over the first place with $18 million dollars. Obviously the public agrees that this hilarious romantic comedy should continue headlining the box office.

‘The Pirates! Band of Misfits’ a perfect movie for the whole family follows it, with $11.4 million dollars. Hugh Grant’s first animated film along with other actors like Salma Hayek, has earned this spot because of the intricate details that form this wonderful story.

The romantic movie ‘The Lucky One’ fell to third place with $11.3 million dollars. Leaving ‘The Hunger Games’ in fourth place, which indicates that possibly it will loose a place in the top 10 rapidly.

2 brand new pics from “Twilight: Breaking Dawn 2”!

Seven months from the awaited release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2″, two new pics from Summit Pictures have been revelaed with the three protagonists stars – Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.

In the first still, we see Stewart and Pattinson (dating in real life) looking at yonder. Pattinson looks concerned, while Stewart is on a cheerful note. Is he expecting an attack and is she happy to be a vampire? The second photograph is of Lautner determined and courageous, ready for any situation where he can defend his beloved Stewart. These harmless speculations, will be answered via the new trailer in due time.

The official synopsis of the film the astonishing conclusion to the series, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, PART 2, illuminating the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.

May 4th may become the greatest day for superheroe fans. Tis’ the day that ‘The Avengers‘ hits theaters in the USA in 3D. All your favorite superheroes in one movie, in what we hear is almost a 3 hour epic action adventure!

So to get you geared up, we have for you 4 clips from the movie and 2 featurettes sure to make your head explode.

Here’s what you’re going to see in the following four clips: two focused on action and two on dialogue. On the action side, Black Widow kicks some ass, and Thor and Captain America make NYC their playground. On the dialogue side, Tony Stark and Loki go to a mano a mano verbal battle and Maria Hill and Nick Fury chatting about some issues.

After the colossal failure of ‘John Carter,’ Disney is still pushing its upcoming film, ‘The Avengers’. This time, they have released six new images with some superhero action, but highlighting the work of director Joss Whedon.

The pictures describe the boss in action while talking with Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor). We also see him using the shield of Captain America, and other photos taken from his point of view as Iron Man getting ready for a scene, and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) shooting a villain in the air inside a studio.

Whedon will also most likely show up at the ‘The Avengers’ closing night premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this year on April 28. The film will have its world premiere on April 11 in Los Angeles.

‘The Avengers‘ brings together some of the greatest heroes the world has to face a threat that could end life on earth as we know it. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Clark Gregg, Tom Hiddleston, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders.

The film opens on May 4.

The first pictures of Penélope Cruz in the new Woody Allen, ‘To Rome with Love,’ are officially out. In these four photographs, we see Cruz playing a sexy and beautiful woman flirting to an Italian man.

The plot of ‘To Rome with Love‘ is a story about a number of people in Italy, some American, some Italian, some residents, some visitors, and the romances and adventures and predicaments they get into.

The outstanding cast includes Woody Allen‘s return to the big screen, Ellen Page, Jesse Eisenberg, Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Judy Davis, Alison Pill, and Greta Gerwig. Allen got a hit with Midnight in Paris, nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards and we’re expecting this film to be a hit too.

‘To Rome with Love‘ is scheduled for release in the U.S. on 20 April this year.

‘Flim-Flam Man’: a new film by Alejandro Iñárritu?

We have not heard anything from Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu after his grim drama ‘Biutiful‘ starring Javier Bardem, whose film recibión two Oscar nominations 2010 for Best Foreign Film and Best Actor respectively.

So that man doing? Last year there was talk that was going to direct The Revenant with Sean Penn and Leonardo DiCaprio, but that was in the air.

Now Variety reports that Iñárritu is interested in adapting Jennifer Vogel‘s memoir “Flim-Flam Man: The True Story Of My Father’s Counterfeit Life“. Supposedly New Regency will be the study distributor, but none of this is official. We will be open on this to see how it moves the peanuts in the coming months. Could we see Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem in the film?

Guillermo del Toro to produce ‘Day of the Dead’

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Mexican director Guillermo del Toro will be producing ‘Day of the Dead,’ a CG-animated movie. Del Toro will also present the film, which is being directed and co-written by Jorge R. Gutierrez (the co-creator of a Nickelodeon show named El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera) and is being eyed for a fall 2014 release.

‘Day of the Dead’ is described as a Romeo and Juliet-style love story set against the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead.

Music will play a key part in the movie and producers are hoping to snag an international who’s who for the soundtrack.

Reel FX who is also producing, is currently working on an animated feature adaptation of the Dark Horse graphic novel Beasts Of Burden.
