Watch The New ‘Ben-Hur’ Movie Trailer!

Coming to theatres on August 12, 2016, this remake of Ben-Hur has all the defects of whitewashing, but let’s not get into that right now. Will the film work? Will a historical drama about the Roman Empire work in 2016? There are no major stars, apart from Morgan Freeman in a minor supporting role. What are the expectations? Let’s begin by you seeing it. 

Synopsis: BEN-HUR is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, and separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge but finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Also starring Morgan Freeman and Rodrigo Santoro.

The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and stars Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell, Morgan Freeman, Rodrigo Santoro, Nazanin Boniadi, Ayelet Zurer, and Sofia Black D’Elia.

Jack Huston plays Judah Ben-Hur and Morgan Freeman plays Ilderim in Ben-Hur from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Paramount Pictures.
