Pixar’s ‘Coco’ Announces All-Latino Voice Cast, Reveals New Poster

06.7.2017 | By |

Back in March, we posted the new trailer for Disney/Pixar’s Coco. Now, they have announced their new Latino voice cast, plus have revealed the first look at their new poster. According to co-director Adrian Molina, “Our voice cast is incredibly talented, helping to shape our eclectic group of characters. Each actor has told us they find something relatable in this film, so they’re finding it easy to capture the heart of this story—it’s all about family, so we hope that these characters will resonate with everyone.” Check out the full cast after the jump. This Week In Movies: ‘The Dinner,’ ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’

05.2.2017 | By |

This week in movies, the new release slate is not a Hollywood moviegoer’s dream. There is only one tentpole movie release, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and the rest are indie fare that lack buzz and excitement. The exploration of the human spirit is the common theme among our limited releases and though that’s not exciting, it is interesting. GOTG 2 is as much fun as you’ll have at the movies this summer, but Richard Gere’s family thriller The Dinner, does capture a feeling of Roman Polanski’s Carnage. Some star power also helps indie films with stars such as Naomi Watts and Liev Schrieber leading their respective films. See what interests you and let us know. Enjoy the trailers and listen to our podcast for our in-depth reviews of this week’s releases and more! Read More

This Week In Movies: The Circle, How To Be A Latin Lover, Buster’s Mal Heart

04.24.2017 | By |

How To Be A Latin Lover is how we begin the week’s film releases. For the love of a god, any god, I hope this comedy doesn’t regress Latino culture for 30 years. To be frank, I can’t bring myself to see it. You guys let me know how it is. In other releases, Tom Hanks and Emma Watson engage us in a black mirror story about technology and social media and humanity in The Circle and Rami Malek leaves his Mr. Robot persona to give us Buster’s Mal Heart, a quirky thriller that is sure to make you see Malek with different eyes. Excellent Trailer of Salma Hayek’s ‘Beatriz at Dinner’

04.12.2017 | By |

It is a rarity to see films with a central Hispanic lead, specially with one who possesses a strong accent such as Salma Hayek. But somehow, America forgives her (and a select few) and they allow themselves to be treated to the screenwriter’s imagination and the director’s vision of a story. These characteristics and more are in full display in Beatriz at Dinner. Puerto Rican director Miguel Arteta, who made a favorite film of mine, Youth In Revolt, starring Michael Cera, casts Salma Hayek in what will arguably be known as her best performance since her Oscar nomination in 2002’s Frida. This is the type of films Latinos should aspire to be a part of – dark comedies with a melding of Caucasians and Latino sensibilities; those which break from the storytelling of border-crossing or drug cartels. Beatriz at Dinner seems to offer a new paradigm for Latino actors, one which they should be watching with a discerning eye. Transformers: The Last Knight: The Official Trailer Is Here!

04.12.2017 | By |

I still don’t think Mark Wahlberg fits the Transformers franchise, but now that Michael Bay is stepping down after this film, it’ll be interesting to see how the dynamics (and cast) probably change under “new management”. Nice to know Big Little Lies Latino actor Santiago Cabrera is in the film. Give the trailer a look and let us know what you think about it in the comments section below. Read More

This Week In Movies: ‘John Coltrane,’ ‘Norman,’ ‘The Lost City Of Z’

04.11.2017 | By |

We’re in the middle of April, spring has sprung and so are good quality movies… well at least the independent fare. The best films to see this week are of the indie kind such as two documentaries, Chasing Trane: The John Coltrane Documentary and Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent which promise great insights into their respective crafts – jazz and the culinary arts. Also, Richard Gere returns to the big screen offering some more non-Richard Gere films with Norman. He’s been experimenting with his character selections for some time now and it’s hit and miss, but you can’t fault him for trying. Enjoy the trailers and listen to our podcast for our in-depth reviews of this week’s releases and more! Read More
