The Vulture Festival’s Special Screening Of ‘The Overnight’

06.19.2015 | By |

*Note: This review appeared originally on June 3rd.

Let me start by mentioning this, I have always been a fan of the Netflix Original Series “Orange is the New Black” most notably of the character ‘Piper Chapman’ portrayed by the actress Taylor Schilling. So when I was told that the New York Vulture Festival had invited ShowBizCafe.com to the special screening of the film “The Overnight” starting Taylor Schilling, I was pleased that I would be able to see her as a character other then ‘Piper Chapman’ which I am so used to. I arrived at the Tribeca Theaters in Varick Street well before showtime. As I entered the theater I was greeted by the Vulture Festival staff, had a small chat with them about how much we were looking forward to this film and Schilling’s portrayal of not ‘Piper Chapman.’ Read More

Mad Max: Fury Road (Movie Review)

05.16.2015 | By |

The 1-4-0: #MadMaxFuryRoad is an artistic rock opera action movie, which is arguably, the best in class the genre has provided for 2015. A tense, visual spectacle that takes the air out of you. Read More

The D Train (Movie Review)

05.8.2015 | By |

The 1-4-0: A typically average indie film, #TheDTrain can deliver on laughs, but its darker and serious undertones hurt the movie instead of making it interesting. Read More

The Avengers: Age of Ultron (Movie Review)

05.1.2015 | By |

The “1-4-0″: More epic, more action, more characters… #AvengersAgeOfUltron satisfies as pure escapism, yet, it’s not as good as the original or ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’. Read More

Fifty Shades Of Grey (Movie Review)

02.14.2015 | By |

The “1-4-0″: #FiftyShadesOfGrey is a disappointment. With clear flaws in acting and direction, the film never matches the hype nor the book’s transfixing eroticism.  Read More

The “1-4-0″: Michael Mann’s cybercrime film #Blackhat is a mix of global, suspenseful grit and a technical and narrative mess. Not what we’re used to from Mann. Read More
