If LUCY is not the most exciting trailer I’ve seen in a long time, I don’t know what is. The 2 minute 31 second clip is packed full of anxiety, ass kicking, superhuman powers, and even comedy – this one will definitely give the rest of the box office films a run for their money.
The film, set in the Taiwanese capital Taipei, Lucy (Scarlett Johansson) who is forced to become a drug mule. After a hit to the stomach, the package breaks and her body absorbs the drugs, giving her great intelligence, strength and powers.
The actress is not only gorgeous in the clip (as always), but oh so badass! This seems like it will be a new age “Leon: The Professional” meets “The Fifth Element,” the perfect combination, and of course no surprise that it was directed by Luc Besson, same director for both of those films.
The movie also stars Morgan Freeman who adds even more value to the film, as his characters always bring a wisdom, sarcasm and sense of eloquence that very few others actors have.
Synopsis: From “La Femme Nikita” and “The Professional” to “The Fifth Element,” writer/director Luc Besson has created some of the toughest, most memorable female action heroes in cinematic history. Now, Besson directs Scarlett Johansson in Lucy, an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic. Universal Pictures will release the film Aug. 8 nationwide.
