Colombia singer-songwriter and Grammy winner, Shakira premiered recently the music video for “Dare (La La La)” on VEVO in both English and Spanish language versions.
The three minute and 12 second clip lacks a lot of the color and the excitement that the song it self is bursting with. It’s not until 1:49 that the video finally starts to build up to that party-in-the-streets feel that the tune naturally begs for with it’s powerful chorus that immediately transport you the Brazilian Carnaval. Basically, an old school video like “Hips Don’t Lie” — which was simpler, but filled with vibrant colors, commotion and life — would have justified the magnetic power and exhilaration that “Dare (La La La)” has more than the current video.
Of course it’s not all bad, as I say once it passes the 1:49 mark finally comes the visual explosion that the songs hungers for.
“Dare (La La La)” is a new track featured on her self-titled, critically acclaimed studio album “SHAKIRA.,” released March 2014 by RCA/Sony Latin Iberia. The video was directed by Anthony Mandler and shot in Portugal. “SHAKIRA.,” is currently top 10 on The Billboard Top 200 Chart and continues to climb the charts with her current single “Empire.”
