07.15.2016 | By |

There was a European Star Wars Celebration happening today where apart from guests like Mark Hamill, there was behind the scenes footage shown of the new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story film starring Mexican actor Diego Luna. Director Gareth Edward narrates it and it is quite impressive to see how much goes into making a blockbuster of this magnitude. Have a look and start your weekend off right with this video.

Only 2 Latinos Were Nominated For A 2016 Emmy… Anthony Mendez Was 1 Of Them

07.14.2016 | By |

He’s 2 for 2 now. Dominican voiceover talent Anthony Mendez has held the fort down once again for the Jane the Virgin camp (even powerhouse Gina Rodriguez hasn’t been able to get an Emmy nod) garnering a second Emmy nomination and only one of two Latinos nominated this year. How cool and large is that? (btw, how is it Gael Garcia Bernal, Oscar Isaac weren’t nominated?) Last year I had the pleasure of meeting up with Mendez for an NBCLatino story I was doing, at his home in New Jersey. We sat down to discuss the reaction of his first Emmy, the struggle and appreciation behind it and a look at his home-studio and how much his family is a part of his success. Mendez drops it from the heart, dude almost made me cry. Have a #TBT look below…

Should I Get This Fedora?

07.13.2016 | By |

Back in the day, during my Frank Sinatra phase, I would wear fedoras that never fit me well (I couldn’t afford new ones before), so I never maximized the look. Now that I’m at an age where wisdom and character meet, I might be able to pull them off now, maybe. Right after I finished doing a show over NY1, inside the enchanting Chelsea Market, Rag & Bone was having a sale on this bad boy. I wanted to get it, but… no one is using the classic fedoras anymore so I had my doubts. What do you peeps think?

Is The New Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone ‘La La Land’ Trailer A Sequel To ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’?

07.13.2016 | By |

For someone who watches as many movies as I do, it’s hard not to see new trailers and immediately compare them to other films. The new Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone ‘La La Land’ trailer looks like a mish-mosh between Marc Webb’s (500) Days of Summer and a sequel to Glenn Ficarra & John Requa’s Crazy, Stupid, Love. Ryan and Emma co-starred in that movie and played lovers, just like here. Can’t forget director Damien Chazelle. He helmed the best movie of 2014 Whiplash and once again is giving us something to behold. Take a look at the trailer and let me know if it piques your interest. La La Land debuts in theaters this December.

07.13.2016 | By |

I was a guest on NY1’s Neil Rosen’s podcast show “Sitting Around Talking Movies” this week and decided to FB Live it for kicks. I was joining one of the funniest people I know, Bill McCuddy (some of you might know him from FOX News) and Bill Bregoli from CBS Radio. We really broke down this week’s releases. Catch a view people!

My NBCLatino Interview With Jennifer Lopez and Lin-Manuel Miranda

07.11.2016 | By |

This was a crazy morning. I had gotten an email last week from the editor-in-chief of NBCLatino, Sandra Lilley, asking if I’d be interested in interviewing Jennifer Lopez and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

I said yes, of course! This was the biggest interview “get” in the business, Spanish or English, and there were only a small number of outlets approved. We discussed their “Love Make The World Go Round” music video in tribute to the Orlando shooting.

Here’s a video excerpt of a bigger interview I did with them today… Lopez was clearly overwhelmed with the emotion of the subject matter. This one hit home for both.

A Look At The Rooftop Farm Of ‘Rosemary’s’ Restaurant

07.10.2016 | By |

I ate here the other day as my wife and I were looking for a restaurant in the Village that was puppy friendly. We had our maltipoo Toby in tow. Through the Finding Fido app we found this gem of a place that actually has a rooftop farm. Many of the ingredients in our meal were from the garden itself. It was delicious, plus the rustic and charming decor sealed it for us. Toby was also happy to people-see at the outdoor tables. I highly recommend this place folks!

This Is One Of The Better Motown Records I’ve Heard In A While

07.9.2016 | By |

Motown is a timeless genre that has no expiration date. Bruno Mars is heavily influenced by the sound and there is even a Broadway musical called Motown The Musical, based on the life of Motown founder Berry Gordy, that began performances on July 12th. Through hours of perusing my Spotify, I stumbled upon this album The Supremes Sing Rodgers & Hart. It was a combination of my first musical love – jazz – and now the best of – Motown. It’s heaven to hear. It has Diana Ross swinging and crooning sweet jazz sounds. The vocals are not by any means Ella or Billie, but they provide a refreshing sound to the classic pop jazz of the times. Have a listen, you’ll be indulgent from the start! Read More
