Is The New Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone ‘La La Land’ Trailer A Sequel To ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’?

07.13.2016 | By |

For someone who watches as many movies as I do, it’s hard not to see new trailers and immediately compare them to other films. The new Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone ‘La La Land’ trailer looks like a mish-mosh between Marc Webb’s (500) Days of Summer and a sequel to Glenn Ficarra & John Requa’s Crazy, Stupid, Love. Ryan and Emma co-starred in that movie and played lovers, just like here. Can’t forget director Damien Chazelle. He helmed the best movie of 2014 Whiplash and once again is giving us something to behold. Take a look at the trailer and let me know if it piques your interest. La La Land debuts in theaters this December.

My NBCLatino Interview With Jennifer Lopez and Lin-Manuel Miranda

07.11.2016 | By |

This was a crazy morning. I had gotten an email last week from the editor-in-chief of NBCLatino, Sandra Lilley, asking if I’d be interested in interviewing Jennifer Lopez and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

I said yes, of course! This was the biggest interview “get” in the business, Spanish or English, and there were only a small number of outlets approved. We discussed their “Love Make The World Go Round” music video in tribute to the Orlando shooting.

Here’s a video excerpt of a bigger interview I did with them today… Lopez was clearly overwhelmed with the emotion of the subject matter. This one hit home for both.

A Look At The Rooftop Farm Of ‘Rosemary’s’ Restaurant

07.10.2016 | By |

I ate here the other day as my wife and I were looking for a restaurant in the Village that was puppy friendly. We had our maltipoo Toby in tow. Through the Finding Fido app we found this gem of a place that actually has a rooftop farm. Many of the ingredients in our meal were from the garden itself. It was delicious, plus the rustic and charming decor sealed it for us. Toby was also happy to people-see at the outdoor tables. I highly recommend this place folks!

This Is One Of The Better Motown Records I’ve Heard In A While

07.9.2016 | By |

Motown is a timeless genre that has no expiration date. Bruno Mars is heavily influenced by the sound and there is even a Broadway musical called Motown The Musical, based on the life of Motown founder Berry Gordy, that began performances on July 12th. Through hours of perusing my Spotify, I stumbled upon this album The Supremes Sing Rodgers & Hart. It was a combination of my first musical love – jazz – and now the best of – Motown. It’s heaven to hear. It has Diana Ross swinging and crooning sweet jazz sounds. The vocals are not by any means Ella or Billie, but they provide a refreshing sound to the classic pop jazz of the times. Have a listen, you’ll be indulgent from the start! Read More

Interview: Rob Reiner On Trump Movie, Sequels, Superheroes And TV

05.9.2016 | By |

When one says the name Rob Reiner, plentiful thoughts of superlatives comes to mind, but what most people associate the name Rob Reiner with is his character Michael ‘Meathead’ Stivic from “All in the Family” and for his romantic-comedy classic “When Harry Met Sally,” at least for this writer. A further look into Reiner’s cinematic oeuvre and you’ll slowly understand how the tag of living legend might apply. Read More

‘Hamilton’ Scores Record-Setting 16 Tony Nominations: See Complete List

05.3.2016 | By |

The nominations for the 70th annual Tony Awards announcement were a historic moment for Broadway and for diversity this morning – Puerto Rican icon Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton scored a record-setting 16 nominations. On the play side, Long Day’s Journey Into Night had 7 nominations, most by a play this year. Latinos made their presence felt this year by having Costa Rican Danny Burstein nominated for Best Actor in a Musical for Fiddler On The Roof, Colombian choreographer Sergio Trujillo for On Your Feet! and Puerto Rican Lin-Manuel Miranda for ‘Hamilton’ for Best Actor in a Musical as well. Years ago, one Latino nominated for a Tony was historic, now 3 of them are. Times are a changin’. Read More
