Oblivion (Movie Review)

04.19.2013 | By |

From engrossingly existential to plain ol’ dumbed-down is how I would describe the trek from beginning to end in Tom Cruise’s new movie “Oblivion” from director Joseph Kosinski. Overall, “Oblivion” is a good film, but not a great film. It does possess outstanding visuals (Chilean Claudio Miranda is responsible) and another solid performance from Tom Cruise, but the script towards the end, a combination between a novela romance and contrived plot twists, drags the film from a superb movie to just a slightly better than average affair. First look at the new THOR: THE DARK WORLD poster!

I just got my hands on Marvel’s new teaser poster “Thor: The Dark World” poster. From what I’m looking at, the poster looks great for a teaser, very Highlanderish from 1986, if you ask me.

The film brings back Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Read More

VMAs: What Went Down With Aubrey Plaza?

04.16.2013 | By |

Puerto Rican actress Aubrey Plaza at the MTV Movie Awards interrupted Will Ferrell in the middle of his acceptance speech for the Comedic Genius Award and tried to repeatedly take his golden popcorn as she held a drink in her hand. According to MTV, after the stage crash producers asked Plaza to leave the show.

A close-up of the actress on stage reveals that she had The To Do List written on her chest, which is the name of the new CBS Films’ comedy where the half-Puerto Rican actress plays Brandy Clark, a high school girl who after feeling the pressures of having to be sexually experienced before she goes off to college makes a to-do list of things to accomplish before the fall. Is Eva Longoria's "Devious Maids" stereotyping Latinas?

Eva Longoria just can’t keep away from the drama and that is why this summer she is bringing it to your nearest TV set.

“Devious Maids” is a new Lifetime series executive produced by Longoria (“Desperate Housewives”) and Marc Cherry (“Desperate Housewives”). The show takes an “upstairs-downstairs” look at five maids and their rich and famous employers inside their Beverly Hills mansions where murder and mayhem collide. The story centers on the close-knit group of maids who are as clever, witty, outrageous and devilish as their employers because in their world, whoever holds the dirt holds the power and these maids are surely sweeping in more gossip than anything else.   Read More
