About Last Night (Movie Review)

Rating:

The “1-4-0″: This @ALNmovie remake blends hard comedy with sincere romance creating a terrific date movie for couples on #ValentinesDay weekend.

The Gist: ‘About Last Night’ is the ups and downs of two couples in a relationship with a very comedic twist. This is a remake from the 1986 Edward Zwick (The Last Samurai, Love & Other Drugs, The Siege, Blood Diamonds, Legends of the Fall, Courage Under Fire) rom-com starring Demi Moore and Rob Lowe.

The Highlights: The ubiquitous Kevin Hart is usually the main attraction in films he appears in, but in this case, it was Regina Hall and Kevin Hart who stole all the scenes. The chemistry of the duo shines bright in this comedy with all the contradictions and puzzles that go along with a typical relationship. The African-American essence also makes this a much more engaging and delicious escapade.

The Lowlights: Not every bit of joke is funny. It’s hard to make people laugh. It’s hit and miss with the comedy, but at least the romance is never compromised. It’s perhaps the best part of the film which is worth taking the time to connect with.

Pay or Nay?: Pay. You’ll laugh and identify with many of the situations the characters go through. There’s enough for men to nod in agreement and enough for women to recognize as truth as well. This is money well spent for a good date movie experience.
