We begin the first week of May 2014 with a whopping 18 movie releases, which is a huge amount of films for one single week, not including all those arriving on VOD. Spider-Man 2 is the biggest movie of the week, but I must confess, the documentary DOCUMENTED caught my eye, as well as Kevin Spacey’s theater doc, NOW and BELLE which has had good buzz since TIFF. But since I like action so much, one usually can’t go wrong with a Tony Jaa action film in THE PROTECTOR 2. Not a bad week, but not a great week either. Nevertheless, peruse at your leisure and see if anything catches your attention. Read More

The late 1982 winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature was known all over the world for his magical realism style and successful novels, but the author also enjoyed many more passions, and one of the biggest was film. Here it is! The new trailer of “Jersey Boys” from director Clint Eastwood. I saw the original Broadway musical which the movie is based on and it is pure jukebox fun!! I must have seen it at least 4 times and to now see this film adaptation trailer… I must admit, I’m not impressed. The Broadway musical was nominated for 8 Tonys and won 4. It’s still one of the best shows on Broadway and its original lead, John Lloyd Young, also plays the Frankie Valli role in the movie. Read More
