Whatever happened to Jackie Chan?
The star of such buddy action comedies as the Rush Hour series is set to develop and star in a new English-language action comedy. His last English movie was the remake of ‘The Karate Kid’.
Chan’s as-of-yet untitled action comedy project is scarce of details but here’s what is being said: Reports say that Chan is developing the picture based off of his original idea. The film would follow a detective (Chan) who is tasked with tracking down an American gambler who owes a debt to the Macau casino syndicate. The untitled project would involve settings in Hong Kong, Macau, Eastern Europe and mainland China. Chan will produce alongside Esmond Ren of TIMG and David Gerson of InterTitle Films. Chan’s next project is titled Chinese Zodiac, in which his plays a character named Asian Hawk who “searches the world for a set of mystic artifacts – 12 bronze heads of the animals from the Chinese zodiac.” Chinese Zodiac also stars Oliver Platt, Caitlin Dechelle and, for some reason or another, Kenny G.
Chan wrote, directed, produced and starred in the action-adventure picture, which will debut in Beijing on December 12, 2012.
